    I worked at Ruby Tuesday full-time

    Pros

    I felt great about the food that was actually being served. When I left the company was struggling to keep customers coming in the door. Slightly expensive, but high quality food. I personally had great management.

    Cons

    The slightly above average price of food at a restaurant that doesn't have as big a reputation as it should resulted in some down times for the restaurant.

    Advice to Management

    My managers were some of the best managers I have ever seen in the restaurant industry. However, almost all of them left for greener pastures. They probably need to be paid more.

    Pros

    Their business slogan is "We are ladies and gentlemen serving ladies and gentlemen." They provide stellar customer service and I loved making customers smile and enjoy their dining experience.

    Cons

    Short shifts equaling small pay checks.

    great for college students, quick money, fast paced, hours are flexible

    Cons

    Competitive business, no set pay rate, you work for tips, on your feet all day

    Advice to Management

    Don't let older employees act like they are automatically granted seniority/be bossy

    I worked at Ruby Tuesday part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    If you're new to serving, Ruby's gives a good corporate training to how to properly serve guests in a casual fine dining setting. I've carried this training with me to every serving position after Ruby's. They are usually good about working with school schedules and what not. Only recommend for training and a few months of experience then get out of there!

    Cons

    All management has changed since I've left. That being said, the old management team was very scattered and led by a woman that shouldn't have been given any kind of authority over people or money handling. Business can be slow at time and the crowd drawn to Ruby's are customers that only come out when coupons drop aka cheap people.

    Advice to Management

    To the current management: respect the employees you have. There's some good people in there that deserve respect.

    It's a restaurant so you will work your butt off when there's a rush. That's in every restaurant.

    You make decent money and it's a good first job.

    Cons it is managed poorly and go on false waits.

    Be more encouraging and open to new ideas. Don't micro manage.

    Pros

    The managers at my restaurant were all really great and caring. I worked hard and earned their respect and trust. My work evaluation meeting was really good; I earned 97 points out of 100 because I did my job well. This is a really good chance to work with other people as a team and to talk and get to know people. When you make friends with the people you work with, many laughs make the experience so much more enjoyable. There is a 25% discount on food that servers order. It's nifty to be cross-trained, increasing your chances of being able to pick up shifts when needed.

    Cons

    Small areas typically result in very slow afternoons between lunch and dinner where you don't have much opportunity to make anything over the $2 and change for being a server. Many of my co-workers would sit around on their phones between tables or while waiting for the orders to cook; it was not very professional. The playlist is too short to be on loop.

    Advice to Management

    Notice who is giving their all and who is slacking to make others make up for his or her work. With the shift of hosts having to bus tables now, some servers won't even do the basic dish removal, which they are supposed to and which is very helpful to the already busy hosts.
