    I worked at Ruby Tuesday

    Pros

The money is okay, restaurant is not open too late and does not open too early but that's about it

    Cons

Managers dislike each other, criminals make up the back of house staff, a lot of drug use, managers play favorites

    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at Ruby Tuesday full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Ruby Tuesday talks a good game about caring for their employees and their product. They do offer good benefits, decent pay scale for a starting out manager.

    Cons

Pay for management is low for the style of restaurant. 40k expected starting as a manager. GM at 50K. It is hard to manage a business that does not pay their most important staff well, the HOH team members are severely underpaid caping out at 12$ for line cooks and 10$ for dishwashers who oh by the way double as a salad bar attendant. Most people who work here use it as a jumping stone to move on to a better job after they get experience. I do not think this is typical of the company, however, my leadership was more concerned with why the issues are your fault rather than trying to help you and really dig in to give you the support to make it succeed. There also was a lot of backstabbing, i felt like i was in high school there was not a day that went by that you would not wonder if what you would say was being twisted and sent up the chain. So not only did you have to try and run the restaurant but then your boss would call or pop in and ask you questions about something you said or more to the point, did not say but a bad apple you had to reprimand the day before decided to try and make trouble for you and say you did. When the chips were down my bosses did not waste time in letting me go without so much as a written warning. I would not recommend working in the New England Area, specifically Rhode Island and Mass.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Instead of working against your store leadership work with them, you hired them, trust them to do the job and that they are not the bad guys. I get the employees concerns matter but when an issue arises do not stick it in your back pocket and wait until it becomes a bigger issue than let someone go blaming it on them. IT IS YOUR FAULT for not trying to fix the problem when it was small.

I worked at Ruby Tuesday full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

-You leave cash-in-hand at the end of the day. But that's the case with any and every waiting job.

    Cons

-Management was very new and unnecessarily harsh, trying to make a name for their self.
-Your employee "perks" end at getting 30% off food.
-Hourly wage is at the low end, even for waiters.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take control of the scheduling, don't make it the fault of the employees who have the day off and don't want to come in to cover for a no show.

    Pros

I got to work in a good competitive work environment. The managers and crew members were very helpful and supporting.

    Cons

In my opinion we were a little understaffed. That being said the work load was too much at times. Last, but not least not every body got good hours

    Increase staff

I have been working at Ruby Tuesday

    Pros

None. I never felt welcomed into this environment. The other employees had cliques and if you weren't overly sexually active or into drugs, you didn't fit it. So they wouldnt tip out at the end of the night

    Cons

Everyone does drugs. It shows because while they're working they're miserable. I've never seen so many employees take such frequent cigarette breaks and sneak a drink here and there

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Drug test your people
