I have been working at Ruby Tuesday full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good exposure to a global business, friendly people, good work environment. Drastically changing company currently.

    Cons

Significant changes occur constantly and the company is in poor health. Not much fluctuation for advancement with the current situation.

I worked at Ruby Tuesday part-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Co workers
The people were the best part even that could be difficult. It's a very difficult job, but the people made it possible to reach the end of the day with some sort of sanity.

    Cons

    Customers
Open late and will server up to the last minute.
Paid on tips. Can be good, but at this place, probably not
Driven by corporate, who haven't worked in a restaurant

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get in a restaurant and see what it's like. Care more for your employees.

I worked at Ruby Tuesday full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Very lively place to work, always something to do. Good for people that can't stand being bored. Very diverse company. Always meeting a new kind of person while working here.

    Cons

Mediocre medical coverage unless you were a part of management. Wasn't really a training course for you to take before you start. Pretty much like throwing you to the wolves and see how you do kinda thing. Wages for kitchen staff were a bit low considering the stress given on the job. Menu changing all the time and very little warning or training when it happened.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get some better medical coverage to your non-management personnel. Higher kitchen staff wages would also be nice.

I worked at Ruby Tuesday part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Company values are great, and the people are really nice too. I really liked some of the managers there, and the other staff members and cooks were all very kind, and wanted me to succeed. The video training is a little weird, but they pay for it.

    Cons

Training was terrible, but paid. work-life balance is alright, but I couldn't stand upper management. The folks running upper management made me feel like I was worthless, dispensable, and not important to the company. I disclosed this to someone in middle management and they completely empathized with me and made me feel better about it. Unfortunately, this wasn't just a single individual that caused me these problems, but several.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat the people on the bottom better. Telling me that I'm a terrible person to my face in front of a customer is no way to go.

I have been working at Ruby Tuesday full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Having a positive effect on new hires, as it is reflected in their training. Good food. Flexible hours.

    Cons

Unorganized management, apathetic waitstaff. Ruby's identity has been lost over the years.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop trying to make me do everything for nothing. The pay isn't great. But I was blinded by the motions of getting "promoted". Turns out, they are desperate for new managers but don't promote the good GSC's they have already.

    Pros

Flexible hours. Management is willing to work with you on many things. Great place to meet people and practice your communication skills. Fast paced enviornment.

    Cons

It is tip based, but it is based on how you treat your customers, as it should be. Can be a little draining walking back and forth. Customers try to get free food all the time and will sometimes give you trouble.

I worked at Ruby Tuesday part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great Team, Average pay, good menu. Management went out of its way to ensure team worked at its best. Corporate made a personal visit to our restaurant to show us new menu items with taste test.

    Cons

RT tried too hard to appeal to mass crowd during the end of my tenure. Opened for breakfast which flopped, and tried new and experimental things, but deviated from what made Rubys what it was. Working holidays.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to support the servers. Don't let rude and pushy customers dictate how to run the restaurant. Stop being open on holidays.
