    Pros

The hardware guys are really nice.

    Cons

Lousy benefits, HR sucks, no great food in walking distance.

    Advice to Management

Actually give some kudos to your high performers on occasion.

I have been working at Ruckus Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great management team. Great product. Great customers. One of the few Wi-Fi companies growing faster than market.

    Cons

While the future looks bright for this company, the stock price does not reflect it. May not be a place where you can get rich. Long hours, aggressive undertakings. Internal processes and tools are antiquated and growing pains abound. Not the start-up it was 4 or 5 years ago. No innovation or creative solutions in play. Just grind it out.

I have been working at Ruckus Wireless (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Have worked at Ruckus since around 2004 Like every company there's dysfunction but management actually cares about employees, their lives, well-being and job satisfaction. It's definitely a family attitude. But the bottom line is people want to get stuff done and have fun doing it. And they do. A lot of new hires from bigger companies don't adapt well to the culture, bring in politics and this can cause problems. But its one of the few companies I've worked for that, as its grown, has maintained that entrepreneurial and startup spirit. The jerks are few and far between and there are those that only care about their titles and who reports to them. But this is the exception and not the rule. Just look at their Corporate Marketing VP, ultra strange guy but funny and willing to do almost anything to help.

    Cons

Increasing politics and a creeping layer of middle management emerging. Communications from top down is discombobulated.

    Advice to Management

Give employees more recognition. That's all they want and it's free! Reward those who do the work not those who take credit for it. Focus and fewer markets and be the best in your focused market.

    Pros

Great products, lots of good "worker" bees.

    Cons

Everyone is brought in from the outside with big company mentality.

    Advice to Management

The people that have made the company what it is do not get credit. Pay attention to those making a difference.

They recognize hard work and compensate accordingly.

    Cons

Don't have any at this time.

    Advice to Management

    Keep complimenting when they're earned.

Foolish spending, no training, and lack of transparency make for job disatisfaction

I worked at Ruckus Wireless full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great for people who want to get away from their families by working long hours. If you're into hero worship, good place to meet some really smart Wi-Fi antenna designers.

    Cons

No transparency from upper management. Where is the CEO? What is she doing to make the company better? What are her goals and objectives? Good questions that have no answers. And although the stock is in the toilet and has been for quite some time, Ruckus thinks nothing about sending people halfway around the world, spending thousands on customer visits for a customer that buys a dozen access points. Good for the customer I suppose, but bad business for any stock holders. Lastly, as a former employee I found that it was next to impossible to obtain any training. If you go to work for this company, you'd better already be CCIE Wireless or CWNE material. Anything less, and you won't get your questions answered from anyone.

    Advice to Management

Talk to your employees about your plan and goals. Emphasize team building and that helping others to succeed in the company...is also helping yourselves.

I have been working at Ruckus Wireless full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A great engineering team that prides itself on innovation and quality. An aggressive pace and the freedom to get your job done. No dirty tricks - the company does a great job at being fair, honest and above board. Decent benefits, competitive pay and positive work environment. One of the most eclectic group of senior execs that surprisingly works well together. One of the best balance sheets in the business for a company their size and in their market Is very loyal to their channel partners and customers.

    Cons

24 x 7 culture - You get emails at all hours - but at least you get responses. The company is likely going to be acquired because of their success, and then who knows what will happen. The stock is woefully under appreciated (even at a high EPS) and gets banged around by the effects of others in their market, even when the Ruckus is bucking the trend.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you do best, making a Ruckus in the marketplace and defying the conventional wisdom.

    Pros

Financially, this is a good company. Ruckus truly is the master of its own success or failure. - Salary is good. - Individually, everyone wants to contribute.

    Cons

    - No accountability in the company from top down. - Lack of communication. Employees though want to do their best, don't always know what that is. - Expectation that employees work all hours. - Too much self-congratulations. - No 401K matching and no increase in PTO, the benefits are below average for a public company.
