    meh

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    Prosfun co-workers
    decent work space
    some fun events throughout the year

    ConsBad management, upper management lie to employees a lot. Management cannot or will not listen to what you have to say no matter how professional or polite you are. There is very little room to move up in the company.

    Advice to Senior ManagementListen to your employees, don't just say you will and never actually do anything to improve a situation.

    An series of what "not to do's"

    Brand Manager (Former Employee)
    San Francisco, CA

    ProsAssociation with a cool, hip brand; Great benefits package; The corporate office, based in Boston, is very cutting edge and cool.

    ConsThere is very little support and cohesiveness from corporate; Lack of tools and communication make it difficult to do simple tasks and day to day job

    Time for some "fresh" new leaders reporting to the CEO

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    ProsGreat perks (but seemed like the people felt entitled to them vs. thankful for them.)
    People are passionate about their roles and what they do
    The Rue brand is well-known; made it fun to tell people where I worked;
    Have a more organized (and better communicated) promotion policy vs. the one-offs that occurred;

    ConsMany complained about the hours they worked; but not sure if there's anything the company can do about it; it's the nature of the business.
    Worried about the sustainability of the business due to the high turnover and bodies needed to get the work done.
    Company meetings were awkward and crammed into a small space and 2 floors. Recommend better venue to hold those. Maybe have them quarterly, make them mandatory? Rent a venue?
    Culture seemed very cliquey and people weren't very friendly. People would pass by in the halls and not even say hello or make eye contact to say hi, which was weird.

    Advice to Senior ManagementAdvice to management and to the employees: revisit your company's values and start from there.
    Some of the exec leadership seemed up in the clouds; would advise that they spend more time with the people; walk around, actually LISTEN, be more sincere, and approachable.
    Get creative on what to do for work/life balance; could help w/retention and minimize the hiring treadmill efforts
    Make everyone bonus eligible

    Despite the cons and advice, I would still recommend Rue as a good place to work. They had many great pluses about working there; just wished the people realized how good they have it.

    Great Company if you want to be in Fashion in Boston

    Event Coordinator (Former Employee)
    Boston, MA

    ProsGreat company to begin your e-commerce adventure with. I learned so much while there as far as administrative skills and how e-commerce works. Everyone is very nice, pretty hard to move up because it is competitive and there are only so many spaces open to advance. Free snacks and bagel friday were always amazing as well! Very laid back for the fashion world, if you want something not cut throat but fashion oriented - this is the company for you.

    ConsNot fantastically competitive salary, IF you do get a raise it wont be a very good one. Not easy to move up quickly, you have to put in lots of time.

    Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Two Step shuffle

    IT Department (Former Employee)
    Boston, MA

    ProsVibrant and energetic work environment. More fun challenges than can be handled which is great for the startup employee mindset.

    ConsLack of consistent vision. Many projects started and abandoned simply because it the impossible deadline couldn't be met. Job roles and responsibilities were all over the place.

    Advice to Senior ManagementCurious to see if Steve (the new CEO) is going to make a difference. I doubt it, having met and talked with him after the GSI purchase.
