I worked at Ryan, LLC full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are on a team that has the support or is managed by the more tenured leadership, this can be a great company with many great experiences for a young professional.

    Cons

As the company has grown, it has become difficult to move up, and politics plays a big role in upper management. Many of the large accounts are managed by partners that have been at the firm for a long time, and get paid a significant amount of money based upon the work of others, and very little of their own effort.

I have been working at Ryan, LLC as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

MyRyan is a reality for lots of employees, and there really is a meritorious environment. Lots of employee benefits, great PTO offerings.

    Cons

Bonuses, and whether one advances or not is based solely on luck of the draw/who one knows. If you get stuck on a team in an industry such as retail, your bonuses will be lower than that of those in Defense Contractors or Oil and Gas. But it's worth the risk. Also lack of Administrative assistants means Associate Consultants, as well as Consultants must do extremely menial tasks for weeks on end.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't forget people on the lower level who drive your company, and remember to communicate on their level, despite the companies lofty future goals.

I have been working at Ryan, LLC full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great workplace flexibility. Office culture is easy going and coworkers are very hard working. Great incentives to work harder; performance based bonuses. Nice location.

    Cons

When I first started it was very hard to balance several projects at a time. There are many moving parts to the process, so you are required to sharpen your attention where it is most needed.

I have been working at Ryan, LLC part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Flexible work environment that allows for work life balance.

    Cons

Projects (and therefore bonuses) not evenly distributed. If you are on a good team with good projects that the partners distribute to you, then you're set, but if not, you have to find your own clients or be forced to do junk projects with no profit. Also, this is not a CPA firm so it is difficult to get certified if your manager is not a CPA.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Balance project distribution out better.

I worked at Ryan, LLC full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The people are very smart, and very good at what they do. Brint Ryan is a visionary and very dynamic.

    Cons

Their "work/life balance" program, myRyan, does not work. Your work is never done, and many of the leaders don't respect boundaries--no time is sacred--not the middle of the night, not holidays, not weekends....they will call and email you and expect a response.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn to tell what is truly an emergency and what isn't. People need time off to disengage from work.

I have been working at Ryan, LLC full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Amazing pay structure. Rewards success. Ability to make a lot of money.

    Cons

Internal hurdles, approvals, etc. take time to get processed. Partner group is over-saturated with "managers" of projects.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on results. Some of the partners are not client facing and focus on immaterial details. Reliance on mangers to develop issues, market, manage client relationship, etc. without keeping an eye on the bigger picture.

Room for removal of partners who don't add value but just manage projects or who just ride other partners/managers issues to make their numbers.
