Pros
Company pays for professional certification and continuous learning.
Good work and family life balance.
Cons
Promotion depends on the manager you report to.
Some managers promote faster than others.
Advice to Senior Management
Obtain feedback and collaboration from all parties involved before asking them to adopt a program.
Pros
The TMC is a professional and relaxed atmosphere. Local management is competent and they their best to raise employee moral.
Cons
As a 3PL, the pay is low and the benefits are a bit meager compared with competitors, but especially compared with other transportation companies. We have not had a raise on at least three years, four for some people.
Advice to Senior Management
Get your people a raise. The best minds leave because they can actually make a living outside of Ryder. Ryder TMC simply serves as a training ground for the competition.
Pros
plenty of advancement opportunity and great benefits
Cons
long hours and little pay
Advice to Senior Management
increase salaries and fringe benefits
Pros
The people are easy to get along with.
There is supposed to be room for growth and training opportunities.
Very little supervision.
Cons
Though the interest was shown, no further training was given. It doesnt matter how hard of a worker you are, you get no more recognition than the guys who do nothing. Never saw the potential for moving up.
Advice to Senior Management
Make more of a notice of who is actually working, and who is not. Get rid of worthless employees that spend the whole day wasting time. Offer the employees that are working hard growth opportunities.
Pros
Get to work autonamously
Peers are extremely supportive
Cons
Field organization is a nightmare
Corporate has no idea or does not care to engage in what is really going on in the field.
Company is based on selling a service the service is sub par at best
Pricing is higher than competitiors management does not address this at all
Compensation is based on profitablility of transactions which is nonexistent.
No support in the field account manager is responsible for all aspects of the account-glorified customer service.
Current head of sales leads by intimidation does not value the role of professional sales people
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on customer service and the delivery of a better quality product to the customer.
Pay attention to the word outside of Ryder to become more competitive and actually grow market share instead of worrying about every nickel-focus on true growth.
Pros
Manager was very nice and extremely flexible.
Cons
Extremely low pay, benefits were expensive, little to know interest for advancements
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the voice of your employees
Pros
It might be a better company to work for once the economy turns around. A lot depends on the outcome of the accounting standards for operating leases.
Cons
Big business politics. You have to know how to work the system with the upper management. Tough to work here for more than a couple years.
Advice to Senior Management
More team building exercises. You need to have more lines of open communication, so decision can be made more quickly.
Pros
Management is wonderful to work for and very understanding.
Cons
Movement up salary ladder is hard
Pros
Good place to learn if you are just starting out in your career
Cons
Very little chance to advance
Advice to Senior Management
Look to your employees for advancement and not bring in from outside as much
Pros
Not a bad place to start out of school
Cons
Lack of leadership, takes forever for decisions to made and processed, need management to like you in order to move up, lack of work life balance.
