Pros
I had a great manager/mentor at Ryder System. I was given incredible opportunities that has served as the foundation of a successful career.
Cons
When I was at Ryder there was initiallly stability, but then lots of turnover in my area. After my first manager left the organization I had three different managers in three years. But that was a long time ago... I wouldn't read too much into my comment as it pertains to today's organization.
Advice to Senior Management
Nope... been gone way to long to offer anything by the most general advice. And that would be to focus on communications and employee engagement as an avenue for success.
Pros
Industry leader
Competitive salary
Great HQ location (Miami, FL) - for work/life
Knowledgeable, tenured employee base
Cons
Managed like "mom and pop" organization
Incompetent middle-management (director-levels) with very limited exposure
Limited ability for internal promotional opps
Lack of autonomy to make decisions within management and middle-management levels
Lack of diversity in senior management
Limited (but descent) employee benefits
Complacency with market position (not focused on non-traditional competition)
Advice to Senior Management
Communicate strategic visions (both short and long term) more clearly
Align middle/senior management - to be more forward thinking (rather than complacent)
Provide autonomy to middle management
Provide more promotional opportunities based on merit (not tenure)
Pros
Pay was great
Hours were great
Loved the work
Cons
Terrible management
No Ryder management at site locations
They only care about the client, not the employee
Advice to Senior Management
If you want to keep good hard working people, be more involved with the employee.
Pros
Ryder gave me the freedom to fo my job with no one looking over my shoulder,as long as I did my job the way it was supposed to be done they were happy. Which made me happy. It really was a great place to work.
Cons
To be honest with you I cant think of any, the only thing I could think of is maybe some of the areas I have to drive during the winter time, but that comes with the territory. Other than that I cant think if anything else.
Advice to Senior Management
I think management should implement a bonus program for the drivers that go above and beyond to represent the comoany in a positive way in bringing in revenue for the company.
Pros
Great people. Relations are the strong point.
Cons
The pay and vision lack.
Advice to Senior Management
Management needs to improve their 'team work' with one another.
Pros
-immediate manager great to work for
-work/life balance okay
-good experience to get into logistics
Cons
-no raises for 4 years
-not a huge presence as a 3pl in certain locations so no chance for advancement
Pros
Opportunity for growth and great training
Cons
About the same with any other job
Advice to Senior Management
Be more accountalbe for you actions
Pros
Lots of opportunity. At least 50% of the leadership will be in retirement age in the next 10 years
Cons
Too much travel within the united states
Advice to Senior Management
Keep it up
Pros
Nice building and nice people.
Cons
Lower than average pay compared to competitors.
Pros
its a job and thats all i can say about it.. other locations are probably better but this one is one of thee biggest and its so poorly ran.
Cons
constant social issues, political drama, everything is based on who is friends with whom. THe shop is poorly maintained, yet they preach safety. nothing works as it SHOULD.
Advice to Senior Management
Get out there and investigate the crimes being committed. Theft is rampant.. Theft of time and materials. Integrity does not matter here. And upper management has been given proof and it was swept under the carpet.
