    Pros

    Good work life balance - including telecommuting and flex time Good social environment receptive to family, with no problems with family members visiting office

    Cons

    Bad telecommuting policy - open to interpretation and not really conductive of management goals (i.e. why were they enforcing things the way they were?) Bad/deceptive salary - they justified based on industry average and claimed to want to sit on the 60th percentile. However, their figure used was inc super, whereas the salary data was a mix of inc and exc super - inference is that they were actually positioned at 45 - 55th percentile but tricking employees to think they were at 60th.

    Pros

    Depending on the team little to moderate stress levels. Professional managers, realistic deadlines and interesting clients. Short to medium term projects, never assigned to boring projects for too long. Nice team culture.

    Cons

    Compensation not nearly as good as in banks and competitors, who keep poaching talented developers. Johannesburg's team not growing fast enough / stagnating. No drive to innovate, since clients (banks) don't desire cutting-edge technology. Little contact with software once it's been shipped to a client. More strict and boring processes put in place by ACI Worldwide Inc.

    Advice to Management

    Retain and hire more top talent by offering higher than "industry standard" compensation.

    Pros

    Felt like I was doing something important. Smart people.

    Cons

    Blue collar coding, heavy workload, people are too smart for the work they are on.

    Advice to Management

    Lower the hiring standard and you will have less of a employee turnover.

    Pros

    S1 Pune (International PSO) was an awesome place to work - one of best talents and places that I've worked for so far. I was given complete freedom and flexibility at work, good compensation and some very challenging work. Great colleagues, especially from Europe, a good sense of being one-global-unit and a fun, party culture!

    Cons

    Working with Asia Pacific Management was a sad experience - it all changed in 2010-2011. I don't know how the management based in Singapore got where they were but they clearly lacked work experience and seemed to have no idea how to run large units within truly international companies. They were all expats for Singapore - they introduced an element of racism and ugly management in a great workplace such as S1 - and sure enough, they lost all great talent in the process. I quit S1 because of similar reasons as well, APAC being my last engagement before leaving - if the APAC Management would have been talented like the rest of the S1 world, I would have stayed back. Stay away from S1 if being hired for any of the APAC Professional Services engagements.

    Advice to Management

    You need to look at serious reorganization of your Singapore-based APAC Management to reign in further damage - over the last two years they've caused enough damage. Other than that, keep it up!! S1 was truly one of the best places I ever worked!

    Politics Acquisition by ACI American-centric view of the world

    Advice to Management

    spend more time listening to your employees and in particular the needs of customers outside domestic US borders. The ACI acquisition is unfortunate as it removes a strong competitor from the market with superior products. The departure of most of the Corporate Cash product and sales team is a blow to the company and will make it weaker in the long run.

    Pros

    Although, that was a time when we worked a lot on the weekends, we had a great team of employees, great management and hardworking people, and that make your hard work easier.

    Cons

    Unfortunately, the projects started to forward to other country, and a lot of people got laid off.

    Pros

    Flexible work timing. Good work life balance. Nice Pay, year on Junior employees were provided with good hike (till S1 Management was there) Lot of Onsite Opportunities. Nice People. Highly Talented TA,SA,Dev,DBA,QA,BA and SCM. Lot of Leave facilities. Nice Projects in hand with some of the best banks in the World, hence get to learn lot of stuff. Rich Functionality Products. S1 seniors are very EASILY approachable.

    Hetic Work Products Stability a concern. Growth of employee can reduce with ACI into Picture (Only Assumption, not yet sure) ACI has started Employee rationalisation

    Advice to Management

    During Workshops Dev and QA should also be included to understand the real life Business Scanerio. With ACI acquisition, which products remains is a Concern. HR policy is good but needs to be better.
