Pros
Challenging, diversified culture, global footprint, r&d and technology focus
Cons
high degree of complexity, short term focus
Pros
Fair compensation, ability to travel if you need to, good training opportunities
Cons
Terrible work environment; promotion within IT based on who you know versus job skills and how well you have networked with the right people in Pittsfield. If you are not a popular kid in school, forget promotion.
Advice to Senior Management
Do some 360 reviews in IT and see who has the right seats on the bus. Don't promote just because of internal friendships or nationality and don't let your best talent leave.
Pros
Open and honest communication among local team. One of the best office location and facility I have experienced. High integrity and compliance standard was great.
Cons
Not fair in treating employees, not the best people are promoted. C&B is not comparable to the market. Recent global and local management change does not make sense to grow the business.
Advice to Senior Management
Better retain the best talent, so further disaster can be prevented. Lack of employee engagement will be a long term issue.
Pros
Huge resources, global presence, good balance between work and family life. Recognition, talent review process, strong financial position, opportunity for career growth
Cons
Not much cons that I can see. Organizational structure is complex, product lines needs further refinements, brand is not as well known in USA
Advice to Senior Management
More work necessary to spread the SABIC branding, Need further simplification of the organizational structure, need to increase the compensation
Pros
Open atmosphere, great place to learn the business of engineering plastic
Cons
Salary is not competent in multi-national companies.
Pros
This is a company that has deep pockets and is looking for great ideas. If you can dream big and put some numbers behind your dream you can make it happen.
Cons
Lately there are too many corporate projects coming down the pipe line. Many IT and EHS things that will in the end make the company better but resourcing of these projects will be difficult.
Advice to Senior Management
Ensure the projects that are implemented not only make us profitable but also work for our teams that make the plastic.
Pros
Great Leadership. Focusing on job. Get things done attitude which is very good for fresh.
Great Team members. You can easily make friends there.
Cons
recently is get disturbed by the integrition with SABIC...team not stable, losing its good senior leaders. wise strategy get more difficult realized due to the uncertainity in the higher management.
Pros
Well structured from the GE days, although times are changing. Still a leader in the industry with good products and services
Cons
Company is always undergoing changes, most of which dont make a lot of sense to those of us closest to the customer
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to your field teams and respond to their suggestions as to how to drive the business in a positive direction
Pros
The compensation and benefits packages are very competitive, despite the bonus plan only being available to top management - it would be very difficult to get the packages afforded here elsewhere in the area - you would have to move
Cons
Communication is awful - you typically find things out third hand - it is one of the most siloed organizations I have ever worked for, the clash between the old GE culture (and there are people who cling to the hope that GE will 'come back') and the 'new' SABIC culture - which after 4 years if still being defined and you have the makings for a really dysfunctional company. Without a doubt one of the worst onboarding experiences I have ever had - get ready to be ignored for your first three to six months.
Advice to Senior Management
Get a clue - sporadic walkarounds are not the way to get in touch with the people - listen to what the questions are telling you at the employee get togethers. People are not happy and turnover will increase dramatically in the next few months. Telling people 'we care' is not cutting it.
Pros
Benefits
Opportunities for additional responsibilities
Visibility- Big Fish in Small Pond
Cons
negative reactions to a Saudi Arabian owned company
Low brand recognition
Advice to Senior Management
invest in employees.
