I worked at SAIC full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Human resources, payroll, travel services and other administrative roles are staffed with dedicated individuals.
Reliable raises (at certain salary levels) for good performance.
Training and College programs are well established (depending on the contract)
Employees at all levels are professionals in attitudes and in their roles.

    Cons

Satellite facilities are not as well maintained, since there are MANY facilities everywhere.

I worked at SAIC full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Employee stock share, metrix centered organization that slows you to freely contribute and feel part of the team. Each Business Units is separate and draws from a centralized pool of experts for Project Management.

    Cons

they have lost their employee owner focus. while job satisfaction is still there, the employee has lost their value - it is all about the bottom line, stock price and stock dividends. Trying to emulate the big boys with a mid size company mentality.. doesn't work

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

learn from the past! value your employee, take care of the employee and get rid of the "old boys" network and go back to the core values that made you a 12 billion $$ company.

I worked at SAIC full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The company has many resources such as affinity groups for women in STEM, new hires, and diversity groups. The pay was ok, initially. The company is very large, so it is easy to move around to new positions.

    Cons

The company is a true government contracting company, so contracts are won and lost all the time, meaning jobs can come and go. Also, the bonus structure is vague.

I have been working at SAIC full-time for more than a year

    Pros

You will have the opportunity to work on many projects for many customers and learn about the work our contract (direct) employees are doing around the world. Those who work on contracts take great pride in their work; many have been with the company for 15 years or more.

    Cons

The lines of communication between the executives and employees is almost non-existent. Management will say they value the input of employees; however, there is no outlet for employees to contact management, and posting complaints and concerns on the internal social media site leads to a whirlwind of activity - none of it good.

The performance review process is grossly unfair; basically, unless you cure cancer, you will not get a positive review or a raise.

Compensation is low. It's a decent wage, but lower than peer companies pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees. Pay attention to their concerns. Develop a real, true, strategic plan, work with all levels of the company to meet it, and share the rewards with everyone.

I worked at SAIC full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

In the beginning the company was employee owned. Nothing positive to say now.

    Cons

Recently split off and is currently going through rounds of mass layoffs. Everyone is trying to save their own jobs, so unless you're one of the decision makers you're likely to next on the list. Even if you have coverage on a contract. They are trying to get cheaper workers on their contracts.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back to caring for your employees.
