ProsGreat location in Orlando (IT organization). On site gym. Relaxed environment. Plenty of employee organizations for personal and professional development.

ConsThey tend to low ball you. Not the easiest place for most to advance. Pay is not as competitive as some other companies in the area.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlace more emphasis on employee growth and career development.

SAIC is a great place to work.

    Information Technology (Current Employee)
    Orlando, FL

ProsCutting edge research and engineering contracts and projects.
The thing they value the most is their employees and the company is largely employee owned.
    The pay is competitive.
They aren't afraid to give you a big bonus in the form of cash and shares if you are a high performer.

    ConsThe benefits are average.
There isn't much opportunity to work from home.
There are fewer engineers and researchers on the board and in upper level management than previously.
Healthcare plans favor those in DC and California. Healthcare plans for those in Texas and Florida should be changed to get more bang for the buck.
You may be under utilized. If you have skills x, y, z management may only let you use x skills.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere are great healthcare providers all over the US. The best ones tend to be local. Focus on adding healthcare providers for more locations.
Force lower management to share skills and resources on their teams when other groups require them.

    Systems Engineer (Current Employee)
    Orlando, FL

ProsThey preach integrity and much to their credit, they practice it. No allowance for failing to do the right thing when working for SAIC. Makes you proud to be associated with them. And the company is well respected for what it can bring to a customer.

ConsLike so many others, driven to generate revenue, even though it may have negative impacts on employees, but the company often tries to mitigate those impacts.

ProsVery stable and reputable company. Many IT and Engineering opportunities. Very liberal atmosphere (in IT). Great collaborative working environment. Good place to be.
