Work experience is tremendously valuable for someone entering the field. Super friendly + down to earth culture/people.

User Experience Design Intern (Former Employee)
Philadelphia, PA

I worked at SAP as an intern for less than a year

ProsThe best thing is the culture. The projects are challenging and that's very exciting. You learn a lot. You are treated with respect, and given time to adapt and learn about the company and the field. Work/life balance policies are excellent. While there you are an individual and a part of a team not just a number.

ConsYou are trained well and treated more than an intern, but due to budget issues there are no immediate opportunities to become a long term employee and so you go on to the next company, and have to spend time adapting to new environments while the former spends more resources training new interns.

Many good people with an unclear direction

Senior Software Developer (Former Employee)
Los Angeles, CA

I worked at SAP full-time for more than 8 years

ProsGood salary and freedom to develop your career if you are working on the right projects.
Good opportunities to work in different locations and travel if one likes it.

ConsCan get stuck for many years in the same project working with old technologies if located in a small office.
Small offices do not share a proportionate amount of perks as big offices.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more clear about direction. Less emails, shorter ones and more focus about what need to be done.

A fun, truly international company

Consultant (Former Employee)
Downers Grove, IL

I worked at SAP full-time for more than 3 years

ProsDiversity, great work/life balance, and awesome benefits.

ConsSoftware consulting was/is sensitive to swings in the economy so projects can get stalled with a moment's notice. That experience left me in limbo and killed my consulting career.
