Cons
Management and leadership skills within the company
Pros
- flexible working time
- nice atmosphere
- able to bring in your own ideas
- open minded people and colleagues
Cons
have to look for yourself
no guiding from mentors
sometimes no clear objectives for assignments
no critical feedback from supervisors
Advice to Senior Management
more critical feedback to employees for assignments
clearly point out objectives for assignments
better handle hand over from intern to next intern
Pros
Pretty good compensation, usually hit bonus target, subsidized lunches, nice campus. If you like job security and not a lot of stress, you can be a lifer here.
Cons
Glacial development cycles driven by Walldorf (German HQ) mean that it's difficult to make any sort of impact. SAP does not understand how to really manage innovation and how to do things quickly. Also, there is lots of dead wood here - the people that actually make things happen either become executives (in a few cases) or leave to go somewhere where it's easier to actually do something (most cases).
Advice to Senior Management
Figure out how to innovate more quickly; your vision is muddled by too much complexity. Look no further than SAP slide decks for a symptom of your problem - they are wordier than a lot of novels. If you can't articulate issues succinctly, it shows a lack of clarity in your thinking.
Pros
The employess have Geat wok life balance adn vey flexible wok timings. People are vey undestanding to pesonal needs of life
Cons
There are at times so as to say way too many changes across the company the company and people have to move aorun
Advice to Senior Management
The company decisions about org changes could be made less and little more transparent so as to help ppl decide their own carer
Pros
Bonuses and stock options
Free lunches
Beautiful campus
Diverse workforce
Smart, competent colleagues (for the most part)
Ability to work from home
Good work-life balance
Cons
It is easy to get trapped in a silo or reinvent several wheels
The culture can be more executive-centric than business-centric
Pros
You are surrounded by bright, intelligent people, many with an academic nature science degree. The technologies used are very professional and opens very good opportunities to learn. The people are friendly, the management is fair. This is a very social company and cares about the people. You have offices with maximum four people, hence it is quiet. Coffee and lunch is free, you can chosse a company car and do not need to pay for the gas (but you need to pay a fee for the car depending on the price).
Cons
The directions change too fast, no long-term technology strategy has emerged so far that sustains with support by the upper management. A product release cycle can easily take years, hence rewards and career opportunities come slowly. Combined with fast changing strategies, products might never see the light of release after years of development (or, even worse, released but put directly into maintenance mode). Good for research, bad for career. Most important is the initial salary, after that an increase (beside inflation-adaption) will only happen in small one digit percent steps and once in ten years. You might need to switch the company for a real salary increase.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen more to customers. Define a unified technology strategy for all areas and execute. Successful companies have top leaders who care about the products. Build up an individual incentive system for creative people.
Pros
For a job starter SAP is a great place to build up SAP skills. SAP is very international. You can work almost anywhere on the planet.
Cons
SAP wants to make with everything they are doing a 30% + x margin. With every project, every training course, ... And this can definitly compromise quality and can make you look like an idiot towards customers.
Advice to Senior Management
Focus on building the best possible products and making customers happy, before trying to catch up with Oracles profitability.
Pros
Flexible Timing
Good Working Environment
Food and transport is free
Cons
Salary not upto standards
SAP loosing its charm
Pros
It has a clean work environment. I feel very comfortable to work there.
working time is flexible. Easily to attend internal trainings.
Cons
Recognition is not enough.
work scope is a little narrow here.
salary increase is a little slow.
As a technical guy, you don't have much chance to get touch with new IT technology.
Pros
Work and Life balance supported by management. Compensation, Salary, Bonus and other benefits. Collaboration and respect between workers is phenomenal.
Cons
Early calls for Europe (Walldorf). Endless bureaucratic re-organizations and shuffling of leadership with minimal impact, besides confusion, for individual contributor employees.
Advice to Senior Management
Set the organization in stone and get to work on managing the business, margins and revenue growth. Hire more externally.
