Pros
SAP are on a roll with innovative, game-changing new products being launched and in the pipeline. If you're passionate about software it's very hard to beat.
Highly competitive pay and excellent (flexible) benefits, including up to 36 days holiday a year!
Open, friendly culture.
Generally good respect for the idea of work/life balance, with a European, rather than American, culture.
Good opportunities for taking training and personal development.
Free lunches and a great canteen!
Cons
Although personal development and career progression is very much encouraged, there's little formal structure around it. If you're happy to get on with the job you're in there's no pressure to move upwards which is great. But if you're talented and ready to move on in the company, then it's very much down to you to make that happen, and often relies on who-knows-who. I'd like to see more opportunities for high potentials to get exposure and experience in different areas of the business.
Benefits and expense limits with fixed values, such as car allowance, perhaps used to be generous but haven't been revised since they were introduced.
Can be a fair bit of bureaucracy from numerous layers of management. There seems to be a great desire to impose the same processes and structures on all countries across EMEA, regardless of what might work best in a local context.
Office environment (Clockhouse Place) is pleasant but somewhat dated - you'll often find better elsewhere. Office location is nowhere near any shops or amenities, and is difficult to reach on public transport.
Advice to Senior Management
I think SAP UK is a great place to work - but it could be even better. If employees are doing a great job and working hard, and the company's making good money, then I'd like to see then company looking after its people a bit more by providing a first-rate environment, whether in the office or when we're travelling and working with customers.
Pros
Benefits and the people there
Cons
The speed at which you progress is slow even for top performers
Advice to Senior Management
Get employees involved in more projects away from their field
Pros
People are great, very good atmosphere. Everyone is willing to help, good collaboration between various international subsidiaries. Managers care about life/work balance, taking time off is never a problem. Work, for the most part, is engaging and interesting.
Cons
Very hard to get promoted; lots of internal politics. HR seems to be incompetent in some areas.

Pros
Quality of people overall are good. Good benefit package. Working with some really professional colleagues and lots of mutual respect.
Cons
Limited carreer groth in the Field Services Division within the UK. The top management are forced to deliver the raw numbers to SAP AG which can cause suboptimal effects on the employees ability to execute and limit personal growth.
Advice to Senior Management
UK top management must have a strategic view on where they want to take the employees into the future and not just focus on the next 3 to 6 months results.
Pros
food coffee people job security
Cons
Bosses bosses promotion style KPI
Advice to Senior Management
listen to people

good social benefits
stable company
Cons
burecracy on all levels
low level of transperancy
unneccessary complexity even for simple things
difficult to introduce changes
development teams disconnected from real customer needs
your contribution to the organization almost not visible
Advice to Senior Management
bring down the level of burecarcy, let the correct people take the desicions and do less politics, allow more 'Just do it' attitute, have more people from development on customer sites
Pros
Good colleagues, good reputation in the marketplace, great to have on your CV
Cons
Car parking and now having to pay for the coffee if you get it from the cafe
Advice to Senior Management
Lead by example
Pros
Great lunches, good but diminishing brand, huge customer base that the snr mgt wanst to shaft and exploit all of the time.
Company cannot handle the down turn and totally dishonest with both employees and customers
Cons
Very poor Snr Mgt - dishonest, lack of integrity. Software not being delivere don time and to good quality.
