I have been working at SAP full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Challenging but rewarding work. Never boring.

    Cons

Difficult to use internal computer system, which is a bit ironic when the company's motto is 'The best-run businesses run SAP'.

I have been working at SAP full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Benefits are amazing, lots of different jobs within company so you can change careers every five years without giving up your seniority. Generous vacation, lots of excellent community volunteer opportunities, Yaletown office is an fun place to work, SAP Lunch on Us program means that SAP pays you to eat at Yaletown restaurants.

    Cons

Many positions require that your manager be located in Germany. Sometimes more focused on process than end results.

I have been working at SAP full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good salary and benefits; well defined employee development programs. Good products and senior leadership has good vision.

    Cons

Hard to move quickly and nimbly in a company that is process oriented and bogged down in controls and approvals. Most of the approvals are based in Germany, with a perceived reluctance to distribute the controls globally. Can often result in significant delays in getting the job done, especially when time zones are factored in.

Work-life balance is talked about as being important, but not many walk the talk. Recent layoffs, despite healthy financials, have resulted in an increased workload.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Relax the controls (VP approval to get a replacement cell phone?), and distribute the locus of control globally to reflect the global nature of the company.

I worked at SAP full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Good work/life balance, good perks and good opportunity to learn. The company follows good Agile process using LEAN methodology with Continuous Improvement.

    Cons

There is very little opportunity to evolve since all high positions are taken and the company has been in headcount freeze for years.

    Pros

Good Wages, Opportunity to self learn SAP products if you have a desire to

    Cons

Attitude of Permanent staff to Contractors

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review middle level managers, too many doing very average jobs with a below modern day market skill -set.

I have been working at SAP full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Nice office, reasonable work life balance. Manageable level of politics. A lot less process oriented than people think. Overall, a good place to work, esp for those with families.

    Cons

Recent turmoil with products creates a slightly chaotic working environment. Not the top reputation with regards to technology. A bit introverted with regards to tech selection.
