I have been working at SB & Company full-time

    Pros

The company is a good company. It provides a lot of training and different ways to grow as an auditor. In addition, it challenges you but putting you into an in-charge role quickly. CPA firms in general are a good place to grow, mature as an auditor and gain lots of experience.

    Cons

The Job security at SB& Company is not certain.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep trying to find ways to hire good employees and retain them. The turnover is too high!

I worked at SB & Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Nothing from the Partners. They have five partners, each one is bad in their own way. They do not know how to manage. If you come to work here, make sure you have another plan. DO NOT DO IT. The best benefit you would have is the ability to find another job.

    Cons

The managing partner does not care about the employees. There is no work life balance. The only people that stay here are people with the H1B Visa group. they hire them, take advantage of them, knowing that if this group does not do what they say, they will be shipped back to their country. Horrible. Turnover is extremely high. The original other two partners cannot keep assistants. No one really stays unless they cannot find a job.

I worked at SB & Company

    Pros

Not really crazy during busy season. People are very nice. Still able to maintain a work-life balance at this public accounting firm.

    Cons

Poorly compensated. Highest turnover ratios I have seen in my career. The key reason being lack of attention towards employees growth within the firm. Hold off seniors for far too long. No great exit opp as you would have at other regional firms.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

It's time to take actions. Do something to make it actually the culture you promote.

    Pros

The company has a very strong staff diversity!!

    Cons

Disorganized, no commitment to their own mission and values, senior management does not invest in their employees, and extremely high staff turnover.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on why there is a high turnover of staff. Learn how to manage employees more effectively.

I have been working at SB & Company

    Pros

    Hire great people
Nice size and type of clients for small firm

    Cons

-treat staff like children instead of adults
-They have no concept of work life balance, Management/Seniors/Partners calls you at odd times of the day and mornings..just rude
-No real time feedback on performance
-Training is a joke. Staff walk in and out of the training or work on their laptops during the session.
-Audit Methodology ???? they don't even follow their own methodolgy.
-Technology - totally lacking. firm is just cheap. Dells computers are old as dinasours.
Oh one more - VERY HIGH TURNOVER-OVER 30 PEOPLE IN ONE YEAR, KEEP IN MIND FIRM IS ONLY 30 PEOPLE.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Really truly listen to your employees especially contact the ones that have left and really find out why they left. No one is really happy.

I worked at SB & Company

    Pros

It is a good place to train to be a super auditor, but other than that, there no good reason.

    Cons

They actually ask employees to sign contracts in order to receive pay raises. Who does that?!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please stop this type of horrible acts.

I worked at SB & Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Family atmosphere - small shop, you know everyone, holiday party at managing partner's house

    Cons

Multiple busy seasons in fall & winter means no down time. Feeling the firm overextended itself to get work, then scrambled to get it all done. Gave me concerns about audit quality.

I worked at SB & Company full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Pros - People are really friendly.

    Cons

No work life balance. They give you a bonus but said you need to pay them back if you leave the firm before certain period. Who does that? Low salary and no benefit. High turn over rate. They said they want to make a firm to be a good place to work, but they never take any action.

    I worked at SB & Company full-time

    Pros

Size is nice, some clients are pleasant. Others are not.

    Cons

-treat staff like children instead of adults. Managers and Seniors are constantly rude to staff, talk down to staffs and shout at them.
-They have no concept of work life balance. During recruiting, they states that they re about work life balance but it is not so. They expect you to drop everything you are doing and be there when they call.
-No real time feedback on performance. Performance is based on who like the staff.
-Training is a joke. Staff walk in and out of the training or work on their laptops during the session. Also, training is just a overview of the topic and not in-dept

-CPA Exam - They don't care about the CPA exam. They will tell you during evaluation that you can wait until you are ready to be manager before you take it. Staffs are not allowed the time off to take the exam. Not even one staff has pass the CPA exam and seniors are not qualified. Staffs decide to take a MBA program instead of the CPA exam.

CPE - If you leave the company, whether they fire you or you decide to leave, they will hold on to your CPE credits as long as they can. When you call, they will send you around the bushes and they will ignore your emails about your CPE credits.

Gossip - Managers and staff sit and gossip about staffs that they don't like, they even sit at the same table and send emails about how interns dress instead of telling them upfront that it is not acceptable.

Turn over- VERY HIGH TURNOVER- So many people came and go, I don't remember know when some left until months later.

    Advice to Senior Management

Stop why they left. No one is really happy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The managers are some of the people that makes the company uncomfortable to work for. Also, be considerate to employees work life balance. At the end of the day, you have yours.
