Current Employee - Product Manager in Fremont, CA

I have been working at SCM Microsystems

    Pros

It is a product company that has long standing relationships with major OEMs. The exposure that an engineers gets is a good stepping stone for bigger and better things. In fact, people who have worked at SCM have always gone on to a rewarding career though not necessarily within SCM.

    Cons

The management has been unable to sustain the sudden riches that it obtained in the early 90s. In general, the company is seen to survive because of cash balance and clientele from the past rather than any innovation in product line. This has resulted in regular attrition of the workforce.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in your employees. Develop a skilled set not a cheap workforce. Improve working conditions.

  5.

Good place to work. But the product they are into is like fishing where there is no fish. Company growth is declining.

    I worked at SCM Microsystems

    Pros

Good place to work, lot of freedom, good balance between Professional & Personal life, lot of concern towards employees, knowledgable managers, good guidance to freshers.

    Cons

No personal growth, no market growth, lately no Job security and lot of redundancy, company turnover is diminishing year to year, frequent quitters in top management & too many changes which is affecting the decision making process and performance.

    Disapproves of CEO
