Pros
Strong business in a weak economy. Large bonuses. Strong senior management vision and direction.
Cons
Expect employees to work hard. Not a job for slackers.
Pros
Securus Technologies is flexible with the schedule for your shift because they are always needing to hire people but the training class will be the best part of working there when you start (it's downhill after that). It's a great job if you need quick cash to pay bills until you find something better.
Cons
The starting pay of $10/hr is bottom of the barrel compared to other call centers and does not come close to satisfactory for the work you do and the unrealistic call quotas (80 calls per day). You need to be able to handle very angry customers on a daily basis because you are assisting families of prison inmates with their phone billing accounts, and they are often frustrated to find out the calls to the prison facilities cost so much when they get the bill. You do not receive full medical and health benefits until after six months of employment because they know most people will not last half that time.
Advice to Senior Management
Pay at least $12/hr starting out w/ benefits that activate after three months instead of six (like most companies) that way more people will stick around longer.
Pros
Direct supervisors seemed supportive and approachable, frequent and useful feedback on job performance.
Cons
Process for advancement is not easily navigated, additional training and advancement is not specifically encouraged, opportunities for advancement appear limited.
Advice to Senior Management
Provide full and adequate training before changes are implemented to avoid delays and confusion. Test changes before full implementation to avoid potential problems.
Pros
If you want to work in a place that exemplifies the Good Ol Boy system of promotion, hiring, and firing then this is the place for you!
Cons
Upper Mgmt will not communicate the actual wellbeing of the company to you and in more than one instance had Executives "reword the truth" when talking about layoffs.
Advice to Senior Management
Speak openly and truly with your employees and you'll be surprised how well they respond and ddcedicate themselves to the company.
