    Pros

SGK thought about getting into the services side of the industry way before competition

    Cons

Industry is changing very fast, and due to its size, Schawk is not changing fast enough with it.

    Pros

Opportunity for promotion has been there if you put for the effort and step up to take on added responsibility

    Cons

Compensation has not been consistent with market always and the company review process has not always been consistent across the board

    Pros

The company is a large global entity with a lot of opportunity if you are willing to relocate. There are a lot of facilities around the world.

If you are versatile you will never get bored.

There are quite a few different sections to Schawk - Agency related (Anthem!), Separations, Color Retouch, Photography, Prototyping and 3D Rendering, as well as SDS which is more involved with IT and approval software.

    Cons

Pay increases are few and far between, you have to change positions or fight for some advancement before you see even a cost of living adjustment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is a disconnect of goals between financial drive and process drive. We sometimes get caught up in fiscal discussions and we don't improve our process or in order to improve our finances we add 17 steps to our process.

    Pros

They have a very structured hiring process

    Cons

Job duties are expanded outside the scope of the offer letter after the position is accepted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper management has plenty to gain if they would reach out for employee feedback.

  8. Shortsighted leadership that routinely tries for the easy buck while destroying the will of employees.

    Cons

You are required to take plenty of overtime hours

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

At least make an attempt to rebuild your relationship with your employees. They are knowledgeable about aspects of your company that you need to fix or improve.

    Pros

Excellent co-workers. Fun creative projects, always challenging and rewarding.

    Cons

However- work hard, not smart, seems to be their motto.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your talent pool. Operators are not machines...they're creativity and vast skill sets are the product which you sell. Without them you would have no product. Reward them as you would your sales staff.

    Management's Personal Agendas

I worked at SGK full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Some employees are talented and willing to work as a team for the betterment of the corporation. Overall the benefits provided are fairly good although that seemed to be changing also.

    Cons

Unfortunately some of the key management personnel have personal agendas to prove how much better and smarter they are than anyone else. Management has become a good ole boys club and only those members are the ones whose knowledge and decisions are valued despite the fact that they are not the best at what they do. Their egos are so inflated that they have brought the company to the point where the company doesn't even respect it's clients. Management thinks they can tell their clients how to run their business as opposed to partnering with their clients to improve the economical environment for all concerned parties.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

WAKE UP. Remove your personal agendas. This is supposed to be a business and professional environment. Start getting in touch with your employees and listening to them. They are the ones that are in the trenches dealing with the client every day and truly understand the needs and desires of the clients.
