    Pros

Challenging career. Long term contracts with state agencies offered some degree of stability.
Dedicated people who tried their best to meet difficult goals.

    Cons

Senior management forced cost reductions and jeopardized contracts due to poor service. Senior management is quick to judge without checking facts

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People are assets, not commodities. Senior management ruled by fear and were unwilling to implement reasonable changes. Most employees lack the ability to advance. I wish I could rate this company lower than the '1'

Current Employee - Senior Sys Administrative in Malta, NY

    Pros

An OK place to pick up experience and leave.
     Co-workers are civil
Multiple year contracts with state agencies allows for some stability

    Cons

Upper management fails to learn from their mistakes. Management has extremely poor communication skills. Management likes to gossip about their employees. Management's favorite quote - 'You should be happy you have a job'

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Replace the QA and IT management with capable managers. Upper management lacks technical skills and management talent. They waste too much time blaming their employees

    Flexible hours.
    Talented peers.
Two weeks paid vacation and 10 holidays

    Cons

Management lacks the ability to effectively communicate with staff.
Management ignores minor customer issues until the issues become major problems.
     Inadequate staffing reduces employee moral.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please treat employees as assets, not as liabilities. The company does not have an open door policy when dealing with issues.

    Pros

freedom with your schedule to a limit. you can start ya day late or very early and when your done with your assignments for that day then you are done for the day.. the pay was salaried so you was given 40 hr weeks even if you didnt work the whole 40

    Cons

management does not manage well at all... there is no support against arbitrations from your management. they dont compensate to equal your expenses. they dont assist in training that can benefit their employees. they have a high turn around rate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

i really dont have any advice to give to this company because management does not listen and they dont think very highly of their employess anyway

Current Employee - Human Resources in Rutherford, NJ

    Pros

They pay well for corporate positions.

    Cons

The most unorganized organization I have ever seen. They do not give salary increases when promised. You have to beg to get one. Local managers have their own agenda and do not want help from within the organization.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more support to the representatives responsible for benefits, hiring and employee relations. Do not bring in individuals who have masters degrees in psychology and management organization. This is a joke. Do you need to give a blue collar workers that work rotating shifts a psychology test to see if they can perform their job. Any time you bring in an outside person to evaluate your company for effectiveness they cut jobs. They show that they are saving the company money. The company could save money by not hiring worthless people like this and listening more to their current employess to correct internal effectivness.

Nice People who like to look busy working but the management does not have a clue on how they operate or what everyone does.

    Cons

    Former Employee - Lab Staff
    Former Employee - Lab Staff

    Pros

Since it's a MNC, style of doing things is a lot better than SMEs or govt-linked companies. General work culture is friendly, not picky on trivial things.

Nothing ground breaking in terms of technology used there.

The organisational structure is rather simple and superiors are generally nice or appear to be nice.

The management staff usually do not walk around to poke into your affairs or check on things unless there is a problem/rush.

    Cons

This company hires a significant number of foreigners, PRs so it's very common for them to speak in their native tongues right in your face when talking amongst themselves but they do refrain from speaking their languages when they have discussions with other nationalities.

The pantry basically turns into a foreign country during lunch.

The company is situated far from any shops/eating places and there is no canteen nearby so staff either walk 10+ mins to a business hub nearby or take the free company bus rides (which means you better stop work on time otherwise you will miss the bus)

The fact that the microbiology lab is situated and managed under the chemistry side suggests that their focus isn't on microbiology side. There are only 2-3 people in the microbio lab and they report to the lab manager so there isn't any career progression for the microbio side of things. Only 1 Biosafety cabinet so good luck. Proper lab procedures, aseptic techniques tend to be ignored.

Generally overworked staff. High turnovers. The company likes to bite off more than they can chew.

A disconnect between the upper management and lab staff.

The pay is the biggest joke of all. Highly experienced staff but gets low to mid S$2000-3000.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Walk around a little, get more lab people into management to better see things from their point of view.

    Pros

The job its self it not bad its pretty easy. good group of guy to work with. Get to work outside.

    Cons

The pay is low you have to put in 20 hrs of ot a week to get a good pay check which is easy to get if your short on staff. The pay is pretty much 17 you get a dollar rasie every yr for 3yrs then your max out unless you get a shift lead spot good luck on getting that. The 410k is the only good benefit all the others the deductibleis is very high.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give employees more chances to move up in the company maybe be doing this you will keep them for longer periods. Instead of training them and they go into the refinery so they can make more money for the same job.

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee  in  Anchorage, AK
Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Anchorage, AK

    Pros

Work hours can be flexible as long as you meet deadlines. Lots of overtime available if you want it.

    Cons

Office culture is rife with gossip and favoritism. General employee opinion of the job is negative, which can lead to a poor working atmosphere. Management does little to improve morale, instead reacting with hostility whenever negative opinions or attitudes are displayed. Management will accept any short deadline project for money regardless of existing workload and staffing. Poor work/life balance in the summer, where the workload can force you to almost live at work. Consistent good performers taken for granted, average performers who occasionally step up showered with praise, and poor performers ignored as long as someone else picks up the slack. Very little opportunity for advancement.
