I have been working at SHI
Pros – Good Commission if you are on a good account...Lots of opportunity to do well if you are motivated
Cons – No flexibility as far as working from home, no need to be there everyday. Sales Reps could easily work from home
Advice to Senior Management – Allow reps to work from home at least part time

I have been working at SHI full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – I work out of the HQ office, we have access to gym, cafeteria and onsite nurse. The people you work with are all fresh out of college for the most part so the atmosphere can be pretty laid back. They'll hire pretty mucy anyone so it's a good job right out of college. Just don't expect to stick around for long.
Cons – Upper management could care less about you. The pay is attrocious but as others mentioned, people are afraid of leaving for fear of not finding another job. You will probably start in inside sales, making awful pay and even less comission (unless you get lucky and are put in a good account). Try and move around in the company and you quickly find that all other departments are just the same.
I worked my butt off on my prior position in this company, often working insane amount of hours overtime in a highly stressful position. I went above and beyond my job and got nothing in return. No thanks from management or the sales reps. They made no attemp to keep me in the position when I looked elsewhere and then ask one another just what is making people leave. Management is a HUGE joke, it's all based on popularity and they often have no idea how to manage. The CEO only cares about her bottom line, and that is making more and more money.
We barely get any time off and when you do want to take a day off it's almost like you're doing a bad thing-sort of frowned to take off. There aren't enough paid holidays and the yearly bonus is basically nothing. You will NOT move up within this company, since the old timers arent going anywhere. While they get paid the big bucks, the little people doing all the hard work get zero recognition.
There used to be a huge high turn over rate within this company and it's only slowed down because of the economy. I cannot possibly understand why anyone would stay with this company past a few years. You learn no skills that you can take on to another job.
Advice to Senior Management – Management needs to actually learn to manage--they need to bring an outsider to evaluate this company because it's run like its still a small IT company.

I have been working at SHI full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – tight knit culture that supports families and work/life balance, loyal to employees and a culture of promoting from within whenever possible, very stable company financially, CEO/Founder is very involved in the business, privately held with only one owner prevents the pain of public shareholders and short term focus on quarterly results which allows the company to invest in long term initiatives
Cons – low pay relative to industry for staff workers (only way to make good money is in sales), promote from within sometimes means under-qualified people in leadership positions, difficult to transform company to embrace new services portfolio because of volume business around legacy services

I have been working at SHI
Pros – CEO is amazing. Strong, visionary, down to earth, gives respect and is therefore respected by employees. SHI is a good place to work, and if you work hard, you will be compensated accordingly.
Cons – SHI is growing, and there are growing pains. As SHI grows, internal resources need to be added to meet the demand needs for internal support.
Advice to Senior Management – Add internal resources to help support sales.

I worked at SHI
Pros – The company does a decent job at trying to make the fun., and It can be fun if it is your first or second job out of college. As a sales rep, you get an opportunity to learn on the job and you're thrown into variety technology situations.
Commission plan can be solid, but you have to luck into meeting or exceeding your goals.
Cons – SHI is basically two companies. The enterprise team and corporate team. Corp is the red headed step child, but has the most growth and it's where I worked.
The company struggles processing simple orders, and processes don't work well. District and Inside managers stretched too thin or have a limited amount of industry and company knowledge. They are know as Software, Hardware, Integration, but really it's only a viable software reseller, because the strategy to sell hardware is completely broken. There is a lack of knowledge, support, and processes to do it effectively and consistently.
Upper management fires too many employees (EVEN THE ONES WHO'VE EXCEEDED THEIR GOALS) and there is little to no viable explanations for the outings. Several of the top people based on numbers are beginning to exit.
Based on what managers have explained, the plan of the Corp Division hiring strategy is to over hire for every market to ensure that every district / region exceeds their goals. This is great for the company, but for a new or existing employee, you're basically getting less opportunity to make real money. It sets up new reps to call on customer bases that have little to no quality prospects, and the customers lists are basically accounts that have been evaluated and tossed aside due to lack of opportunity.
Management also has created internal teams that are suppose to increase sales, but they take accounts and commissions away from every rep. Reps or direct managers have little to no control over avoiding these tactics.
Advice to Senior Management – Quit being political in forcing out successful employees, quit trying to make this an American version of Softchoice in it's hayday, stop promoting average Account Executives into District Managers with limited success into roles that are above their heads just because you're afraid they're going to quit, and learn how to support the reps that are trying to sell hardware. Your reps are leaving because the writing is on the wall that time is limited and with Microsoft reducing EA fees on renewals, they won't be making as much money next year.

I have been working at SHI
Pros – Good benefits
Good people
Great sales experience
In my opinion, this is probably one of the best places to start straight out of college and get experience as a business major
Cons – Poor base salary
No recognition for hard work - I worked overtime on a shorthanded account because management thought it would be a brilliant idea to fire a team member before the account's busiest month for about two months straight. I barely received as much as an "atta boy", and once I was due for my next raise the company quickly forgot about this and sent me packing
Atomosphere is very political so be prepared to brown nose a little
Advice to Senior Management – Now that the Microsoft EA is gone resulting in a massive hit for most ISR's commissions there is not really a reason for any experienced ISRs to stay with the company, therefore increase the base compensation, and reward the hard workers opposed to the brown nosers.

I worked at SHI
Pros – Friendly and knowledgeable coworkers, great entry-level position for recent graduates, likes to promote from within, plenty of opportunities for training and knowledge to advance within the company...
Cons – ...but this is definitely not a place to start a career, unless you ultimately want to be in commission based sales. Limited opportunities for salary-based advancement. Meager raises on a yearly basis. VERY HIGH turnover rate, constantly hiring new inside sales reps to keep up with the promotion/attrition. Many Inside Sales Reps remain in their positions for many years.
Within the last few years, the company has split into two main factions, the existing Enterprise sales and the newer Corporate/SMB sales. Enterprise continues to be based in Piscataway (and soon, Somerset), while Corporate is based out of Austin, TX with satellite offices throughout the US & Canada. The culture between the two divisions could not be more disparate and it is causing tension between the two.
Advice to Senior Management – The corporate and enterprise divisions have become so different, it's impossible to expect the support staff to manage relationships with both.
