    Review from a non-executive staff

    Pros

    1. Large network of joint ventures with aerospace OEMs that can help to contribute to its gross profit with minimal costs involved other than its initial investment costs. Company recognize the importance of forming joint ventures with strategic partners (example, recent JV with Boeing).

    2. Being a Singapore Airlines subsidiary, it can rely on Singapore Airlines fleet of aircrafts for its MRO businesses. This ensure some amount of stability for its revenue.

    3. Strong presence in providing transit, stopover services to airlines in Changi Airport (Line Maintenance).

    4. As one of the dominant companies in the local and regional aviation MRO industry, it can offer better job security than other sectors.

    5. Depending on your ambitions and character, it can be good place to work till your retirement for a non-executive staff if you do not mind the lack of career advancement opportunities. You will not be entrusted with heavy/important responsibilities which means your work life will not be too stressful.

    Cons

    1. Very limited career advancement prospects for non-executive staff (non-graduates & non engineers). Reluctance of management to groom and promote such staff into executive roles. Management would rather recruit fresh graduates (perceived as hungrier with lower salaries) for executive roles than to give opportunities to the existing staff.

    2. Doesn't practice meritocracy-based scheme for its bonuses. All staff (except managers and above) will get equal amount of bonuses. Capable or mediocre workers are rewarded equally. Be prepared to see mediocre workers to be promoted ahead of you especially if they are in job roles that are "low risk in nature". Less work means less mistakes. And less mistakes means you looks better than your peers.

    3. There are too many people comfortable and complacent in their existing jobs that teamwork no longer exist in their vocabulary. If doing something right for the company means that they need to change their jobscope, things will remain unchanged.

    4. Emphasis are placed on immediate end results. This means that potential improvements to its processes which may produce greater sustained benefits in the longer term are sacrificed to protect the shorter term benefits. In other words, penny wise, pound foolish mentality is prevalent in company.

    5. Riding on the coat tail of the Joint Ventures' contributions for too long. Operating profit is declining despite higher revenues. As more businesses/revenues are earned, company seem to incur even more expenses trying to cope with the additional work. Does this sounds like a sustainable business model to you?

    Pros

Challenging tasks with room for personal growth

    Cons

A lot of office politics, and people with different agenda. Difficult to get cooperation from colleagues, unsupportive senior management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the middle management staff and make the necessary painful changes.

    Pros

Good medical, dental benefit and high no of annual leave (20 days)

    Cons

The company is in the high growth area of MRO in the aviation industry , however a lack of strategic direction and poor executions of plan results it not being able to hop onto the bandwagon of growth.

Processes are not well-defined and inter-departmental communications often poses a challenge. Also there is no robust system for the execution of many tasks , and more than often certains tasks are done purely via emails only.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To show more strategic leadership and vision
To take more control of execution, system and process improvement
    To empower the executives more

    Pros

Pros been slaughter off daily eversince new management personnel got replaced one by one. All for the sake of their own good during their Management meeting showing statistics on how much they can save for the company n turn it into profits.. rather than as before although things may look messy.. but company really did have lots of deals n everything still progress smoothly n earning lots of $ which benefits everyone.. n everyone morale working there is high n happy. Not like current state as most already dun give a care anymore with so much ignorant bosses ard.

    Cons

More n more recent promoted bosses dun give a damn how they earn ot in the past.. now they jus simply cut n shoot down all loopholes they knew n kill everyone jus for their own promotion n looking good for their own boss. They kill everyone morale right to the bottom in every level below them. N they can still be so proud of it with their current stance" get rid of anyone who cant immediate perform ". I wonder they r from the PAP cos of their heartless policy which make everyone life miserable struggling to earn a proper living to keep up with current high cost standard.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ur ruthless stunts can only cause workers to work like dead corpes for u time to time.. no more work hard n put heart into our job. So dun expect much in end result. U r jus keep forcing n pressing us. Most of u leaders already lost touch jus like PAP losing touch to citizens. All becos of heartless n ruthless way of doing things n create stupid new policies. Btw we OT is not we love to work so much for u.. its becos of $ for god sake due to ur low basics salary. Keep on going tis direction n u might as well get robots to work for u 24hrs. Ur so much integrated facilities is sucks n lots of white elephants lying ard. Lots of silly ppl keep on chasing us ard for safety as if we r kids playing hide n seek. Good old days for company n everyone in the past been buried due to newer blood of management ppl. Keep on look good on the outside jus like sg. But ppl from the inside is dying. I guess u wun mind as u may also import all fts to cover all duties jus like PAP been doing. Only 1 word left : SAD :(

    Pros

    Good bonus & Medical Benefits

    Cons

The company is heading downhill, often laying off staff to keep the cost down. There is need for a new middle management team to set the company in the right direction.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Headquarters in US should look at restructuring the entire company, especially middle management team.

    Pros

Generally good benefits, reasonable profit-sharing bonus.

    Cons

Depending on department, work-life balance might just be a myth. Some work too hard, while there are many others who report to work everyday just to pass time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Engage your people on the ground to find out where the true problems lie.
Too much sugar-coated reporting done by middle-management.

    Pros

Aerospace MRO is an interesting industry. Good place to learn about this industry. Company has many divisions (Line, Heavy, Workshops) and joint venture companies. Benefits are reasonable.

    Cons

Management treat junior staff (administrative officers and general staff) without respect. Middle management (Managers / Senior Management) can't lead their staff.

Bureaucratic. Addressee in email need to be arranged by seniority of appointment. EVP followed by SVP followed by VP etc.

Individualistic working culture despite teamwork being a core value of the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay attention to the middle management as they interact directly with the working level. Weak leadership will result in poor staff retention and low productivity output as staff do not look forward to work.

Improve culture from individualistic to collaborative.
