    Recommends

    I worked at SISSA/ISAS full-time

    Pros

I experienced autonomy to follow my interests and develop my career. SISSA has an international workforce at the student and postdoc level.

    Cons

SISSA tends not to hire permanent staff who are not Italian. Consider SISSA as a temporary stepping stone to your next postdoc.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at SISSA/ISAS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Stimulating Environment -No Burocracy, as opposed to most of the italian university research center -International Environment -Many other research centers around including ICTP, Electra -Good Connections with companies in Trieste Area

    Cons

-If any, salary is lower in terms of absolut value, with respect to other European Institutions. However you will have to consider that Trieste is a very cheap city where to live in

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at SISSA/ISAS as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

beautiful view to the sea, cheap gym near to the offices and labs, good funding for research in comparison with the Italian standard

    Cons

very stressful work environment without a corresponding salary or good opportunity of career. General arrogant attitude of permanent people working in research sector. The temporary positions do not have essential benefits: unemployment benefit, employment termination indemnity, national insurance contributions

    Advice to Management

    to engage permanent researchers
