Overall a great company. But watch your back.

Service Delivery Manager (Current Employee)
Houston, TX

I have been working at SITA

ProsGood benefits (even though they were becoming more and more exp)
Matching funds on 401k up to 6%
Ample vacation time.
Laid back management relationship first name basis with sr level directors vp's etc.

ConsSales tends to promise first and ask questions later placing delivery people in difficult positions with the customers, which is then blamed on the delivery staff.
Customer satisfaction reviews are often confusing to customers with multiple lines of business.
You need to watch your back when working with some members of the Sales and management staff, when they are done patting you on the back and telling you how they are on your side, make sure they didn't leave a kick me sign there.

Advice to Senior ManagementPay closer attention to the folks in the trenches often they are pulling the weight for themselves and their managers.

Interesting but it all depends on the leadership within individual team

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at SITA full-time

Prosif one is very into working in a diversed international environment, SITA would be ideal

Conssome individual leaders tend to be too self-focused that they do not take care of their team members and are not open to other cultures which is against internal ethics policies!

Also, because of some individuals, senior management are misled into making wrong decisions, with rather destructive consequences!

Advice to Senior ManagementBefore promoting any employee to a leadership position, a thorough examination via panel of interviewers from different backgrounds should be compulsory

across the pond

IT Technologies (Current Employee)
London, England (UK)

I have been working at SITA full-time for more than 5 years

Proslots of new stuff going on and a definite push towards new technologies

ConsIf you live/work in US all is roses but if you are unfortunate to have joined SITA via the london office watch out ! no chance of any acreer advance and you will be shunted about without any consultation by managers in US who sadly have no idea what you do, and dont care anyway.i

Advice to Senior ManagementStop being so incredibly gullible and try to employ people who can actually do the job rather than those who tell you they can. (CEO is on the way out anyway)

Intern experience in SITA

Product Management Trainee (Former Employee)
Geneva (Switzerland)

I worked at SITA as an intern for less than a year

ProsPeople in sita are very nice, feel free to have a discussion, to ask for help. Just checking their schedule and sending an invitation for like half-an-hour meeting.
Sita provides a good platform to learn and practise.Even I am an intern, I have the opportunity to host a audio conference across mutiple time zones with senior engineers attending. It is also one of the most challenging part in my intern.
Sita offers a good work life balance, a good pay, lol.

ConsSometimes the working, communication can be inefficient. People with title like Senior xxx are often with a nearly full schedule, quite difficult to put several people together considering all their availibities. Especially in summer, they choose different periods for vacation, some absent for three weeks, oh god.
If more time with the supervisor can be guaranteed, that would be better.

Advice to Senior ManagementPls make sure of some fixed time period that we can have everyone in the team around.

Global experience, genuine concept, but impacted by the art of procrastination

Consultant (Former Employee)

I worked at SITA full-time for more than 5 years

ProsCompany with a global footprint, illustrious history and track record until the Millennium and with a unique concept having its customers (Airline Transport Industry customers, including airports and airlines) as shareholders. The co-operative spirit worked excellently for decades.Friendly people and excellent cross-cultural experience. Traditionally, financially strong as an enterprise.

ConsSince the SITA SC and SITA INC split in 2003, and the recombination in 2006, the company has never recovered its spirit in spite of different strategies and re-structuring plans.

It has since focused on developing proverbial ivory towers in London, Geneva and Prague (within the European context) while starving other branches of much needed resources and expertise. The concept lay in cost-cutting and streamlining of processes. In practice, this strategy is proving to be myopic in view of Europe's notably different working cultures.

SITA is struggling to keep up with other competitors (both in its field an in other sectors) in terms of renumeration. The Co-Operative model no longer holds in the face of today's global economic climate within the ATI industry.

Advice to Senior ManagementRevamp your strategy, decentralise certain processes (especially finance), stick to core airline products and partner other 3rd parties to deliver the rest. Do not let procrastination in decision making and a certain degree in apathy result in the good personnel leaving.
Cross-cultural virtual working teams are vital if SITA is to turn around its fortunes.

Great company, but needs to break down product silo's to moe up in value chain

Senior Manager (Current Employee)
Geneva (Switzerland)

I have been working at SITA full-time for more than 5 years

ProsMulticultural environment and a dynamic industry

ConsPaying lip-service to profound change. CEO might as well be presenting a sausage factory: it's all about dollars, not what we bring the industry.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet out of strategic partnership with OBS asap.
