I worked at SITA full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

One of the major Pros for me was the fact that I was constantly learning new forms of technology. After the training period ended, you really hit the ground running which I enjoyed.
    The pay is excellent also.

    Cons

Major cons of working at this company are:
    1. The fact that you are NOT going to get promoted. I was there for a VERY, LONG TIME and was basically in the SAME, EXACT SEAT I was when I began. Absolutely NO ROOM for advancement!
    2. Racists. There are stints of racism in upper management making it hard for people of color to move up within the company.
    3. No sense of loyalty to associates. They will run you over the bus about the least little thing. No matter how long you've been with the company 1 year or 50 years, there is no loyalty for NOTHING! Period.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If this company had career, advancement opportunities, it would be an ideal place to work.

    Pros

Interesting technology for the aviation industry.

    Cons

I had a local manager who harassed me trying to get me fired or to simply resign.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Listen to lower level employees.

I have been working at SITA full-time for more than a year

    Pros

People at lower levels are trying desperately to keep customers happy with little recognition of the effort - Management can not make decisions... do not empower or really listen to project and program managers.... more interested in cutting cost and heads than doing right thing... HR a truly "company HR" rather than employee advocate....limited promotion opportunities ... throw people "under the bus" rather than fixing real issue.... senior management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reach out and listen to your employees. They have the actual work experience, and not the theoretical strategies and plans that you are pushing upon them. Use COMMON SENSE!

I have been working at SITA full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

People at lower levels are trying desperately to keep customers happy with little recognition of the effort.

    Cons

Employee appreciation is non-exsistent. Salaries are stagnant and below market. There is no effort to encourage a work/life balance. Directors and VPs will not allow lower levels to speak out at town hall meetings. The fear of retribution is rampant. The general atmosphere is do not speak of the bad, but ensure it is all spun to sound good. DC politicians have nothing on SITA management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Improvement required from the top down. Actions speak louder than words. People are leaving at an amazing pace and taking critical knowledge and experience with them. Rome is burning while Nero fiddles. It is heartbreaking to see the low morale senior management has incurred.

I have been working at SITA full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The quality of the talent - SITA somehow manages to hire very knowledgeable people from the airlines that have a deep and broad knowledge base. Work-life balance is good. Don't have to work all that hard.

    Cons

The leadership of the company is completely out of touch and incompetent. Morale is very bad - and the employee survey shows it for all to see. No opportunities for advancement, unless you are "in" with the incompetent leadership. Talent counts for nothing in pay or advancement. Take home pay goes down every year after the annual increases in benefits costs with no raises.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do the right thing, and ask the board to replace you (like that will ever happen)! Get an independent, professional-grade board with people that are not just Director/VP level people that buy SITA services.

    Pros

Knowledgeable people, some are working hard to make changes to get SiTA to the next level. Good benefits

    Cons

The Senior Leadership Team is out of touch, every year the company goes through a freeze and hard working people are released. No growth, very low morale, most people are stressed due to lack of resources. Most people do not trust HR and Senior Leadership Team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please take time and listen to the employees, most are afraid to tell the truth due to consequences. Most people feel that HR and Senior Leadership don't have their best interest.

I have been working at SITA full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Same stuff everyone says - great people at the worker level, great multicultural experience, great travel opportunities for some roles.

    Cons

SITA has been failing at virtually every project it tries. Voyager is a disaster, though management says it delivered "on time and on budget", which was a bald faced lie. The new finance system is a disaster, with no good data available to help manage the business. No career opportunities for those inside. Few to no raises. They reorg every year, as a way to wallpaper over the lack of business performance and issues within the businesses. But they never follow through on the reorganizations to make the current organization effective, before they reorg again. So over the last 6-7 years, the company has become progressively less effective. And morale is absolutely horrible. Either the CEO is blind to the problems, or there is a very effective filter of all issues that keeps him from being aware (which is cultivated by the fact that he is very volatile and loses his temper with his senior team a lot). This company absolutely WILL go out of business if it continues on the current path.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wake to reality. Confront the problems honestly. And reward your high performers - because they are the only ones that can help you get out of the mess you have allowed to build since Francesco was hired.

I worked at SITA full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

    Health Benefits, Multicultural, Travel, Co-workers

    Cons

Lack of direction, Constant re-org, Not enough investment on new products, does not respect their workforce, Constant blame game for not having enough people, lack of full development of products, too much emphasis on marketing and not quality, good people are leaving or forced to leave, does not reflect the true of the company financial situation

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop the lay off, save money on useless marketing, develop you employees and provide more resources to create and test products, be realistic about deadlines, follow agile methodologies, watch your senior directors not really aligned with the objectives of the company

I have been working at SITA full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Good work environment and flexible hours

    Cons

    > Unclear business direction
    > Managers hire their close friends and relatives even with no experience... Live examples in Lebanon office because the MENA region president Hani Al Assad is Lebanese... This unfair and discriminatory move drove people in other countries within the same geo region to protest.
    > Promotion is based on "personal" friendship not on work progress and development
    > company wide major restructuring is done every 2 years which has big impact on employees work performance
    > some senior managers have no clue of what's going on and how to vision the future or run teams

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    > Shake up the whole management team and get rid of the "illiterate" managers NOT the employees
    > hire a new CEO who can run business better and go down to employees level by talking and listening to them NOT ignoring them by building a separate world between himself and his employees.
