I worked at SKLZ (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Once had a very good culture. Great people. Company sold out to private equity.

Culture is very poor now. Growth has come to a stand still and company is hemorrhaging cash.

    Cons

CEO had poor leadership skills, not a bad guy, just self absorbed. He then sold out the company for personal profit and sold out out the people too. Turn over went from 0 to 50% in a year.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Too late

I worked at SKLZ full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Many smart, hard working people in a fun, competitive atmosphere. New management is taking positive steps in some areas, such as product development and marketing.

    Cons

Dishonest senior management. Since a private equity buyout in 2013, 3/4 of VP and above level executives have been fired, and the new executives lack a realistic plan or vision. Huge turnover among lower level employees has left a chaotic situation. Underhanded cuts to the bonus plan upset many of the better employees. Much hypocrisy surrounding company mission and values.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Being a friend of the company's President shouldn't always be considered the most important job qualification.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at SKLZ as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Incredible work environment and employees. Office culture is unparalleled. Company is experiencing high growth and it's a very fun place to work

    Cons

At times the fun environment can get in the way of dedicating one's self to work. This is easy to get over if you can remain focused on the task at hand

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you are doing. Big things lie ahead.

I have been working at SKLZ

    Pros

Great for people with a sports background who want an entry-level job experience to get their foot in the door within the industry. Lots of opportunity if you are in sales. The products are innovative and fun. Most of them really work and are effective trainers.

    Cons

The executive leadership team will leverage you as best they can and then send you on your way. Keep your distance, get what you want out of your time there, and have an exit strategy in place the day you start.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

People are very loyal and dedicated. Treat them with respect, and you'll be better for it in the long run.

Not a great place to work if you like to fly under the radar. Starting salaries can be a little low.
