I worked at SLP full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Very friendly coworkers, owners were very caring and went out of their way to make sure workers were happy and comfortable, kids were amazing

    Cons

Some parents were very demanding and unreasonable, complained over trivial issues, put a lot of pressure on school and employees to cave to every little demand, even if it didnt benefit the kids or their education.

  2.

The children are wonderful, but the preschool supervisor lacks the necessary skills to manage others.

I have been working at SLP full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Being able to travel is a definite plus and the children are very sweet. You are always paid on time. Our coworkers are fantastic and always willing to help.

    Cons

We are somewhat understaffed at this location, and management is poor.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Additional training would be helpful and better communication. Understanding cultural differences and more empathy wouldn't hurt either.

I have been working at SLP as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Children are wonderful, it's a pleasure to spend all day with them- no matter how busy. Apartment provided nice, and round-trip airfare helpful. They at least try to provide the illusion that the contract is/will be honored.

    Cons

Required to perform way beyond contract and reason. Nearly impossible to discuss issues with management, with or without possible solutions: they would only purposefully make the situation greatly worse, so one would resist anything from strict adherence without hesitation in the future.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open honesty about reality and demands (should-be requests) will bring energetic/overly-willing participants instead of overly exhausted/resentful employees. Would be nice to have regular staff fun-gatherings too, to help alleviate the impact of working overtime, being away from family and immersing with new culture- plus positive work environment/staff cohesiveness in general.

Former Employee - English Instructor in Cheonan (South Korea)

I worked at SLP as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Paid on time , paid airfare upfront, living area provided was good.. Located quite close to the school( 5 min walk). ( Cheonan is selected in the job city box because Pyeongtaek ...isn't in the glass door database as a city )

    Cons

Very negative work environment. The turn over rate for teachers was well over 100 percent. The time I was there all the teachers were replaced . Extremely Disorganized , no one has any idea of what's going on ... because everyones new and inexperienced. No training . Conflicting management answers (clueless). Schedule changes with no warnings. My signed contract was completely meaningless not followed/ broken routinely. This Hogwan is under financial strain.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Nothing... Way to stubborn to take any... Maybe just to give up completely ...stop making peoples lives missable

I worked at SLP as a contractor (more than an year)

    Pros

Foreign staff is treated exceptionally and teachers are respected. It's a great location, has an excellent reputation, and friendly staff. The school-provided housing is also above average. The working hours are strictly adhered to and you will only rarely be asked to work outside of those hours. You also spend your work day in the classroom with less time spent on lesson planning or office work. The people you work for make you want to work hard for them, because they're caring and make themselves accessible.

    Cons

Limited time off, classroom managers are constantly changing

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Afternoon programs could use more structure and teachers could be utilized to help where improvement is needed.

I worked at SLP full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Fairly easy execution due to excellent availability of prepared teaching materials.

    Cons

Management was overly concerned with the students' parents satisfaction, so much that teacher appreciation was fairly low.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Incorporate teacher suggestions in order to create a better structured workplace.
