    Pros

Great people. Great outlook and growth potential.

    I worked at SLR International

    Pros

Small office, easy-going staff, ok work-load

    Cons

Very top-heavy, no mentoring of Jr. staff, your get pigeon-held in one position, Managers play favorite, lots of inappropriate chatter between Managers and Woman that work there,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

SLR used to be a great company to work for, until you started adding corporate layers, and moving away from your core values. Go back to the way you were 3 years ago....

I worked at SLR International full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Lots of diverse work experience, if you want it.

    Cons

Top heavy, company is growing, but mainly at the top. Lots of hiring of Principal level people, not allowing for the growth of the people who have been with the company for a long time. Lots of chiefs, few Indians

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't let the walls between offices grow, or it will eventually erode the company you have built.

    Okay To Work For

I have been working at SLR International full-time

    Pros

Good benefits and good opportunity to grow within company.

    Cons

Too much micromanagement. It`s to the point where you can`t even make your own schedule; they do it for you and you have to do it when they tell you. The micro-management even goes as far as to state that you must have your lunch between noon and 1pm unless approved. Also, overtime must be approved as well otherwise it`s not allowed. It`s crazy. This is consulting; not a government agency.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please, enough of the micro-management! It`s oppressive and insufferable and creates an intimidating and uncomfortable work environment.

I worked at SLR International full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, work-life balance and great support from the Vancouver and Markham office.

The regional office manager was a great mentor to me, despite the activities that went on at this office.

    Cons

Extremely unprofessional (i.e. staff BBQs + lots of drinking, going away party that consisted of a male stripper, my immediate supervisor having sex with a co-worker, sometimes at work).

A couple of the project managers were terrible mentors - very little to no support from them. It got to the point where I decided to report and support the regional office manager, b/c he was the only one that would assign work to me. Despite everything else, the majority of my co-workers (junior scientists / engineers) were pleasant to work with.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Need better leaders!
