    I have been working at SM Retail full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Six day workweek with six time entries per day. Strict guidelines but a good training ground for discipline. Bonuses for hitting your sales quota.

    Cons

    Movement for promotion is a little bit tight given the structure of the company

    Recommends

    I worked at SM Retail full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    They have sale promotions just for employees, you can get a product from Watsons at a really low price and stuff like that.

    Cons

    *It is very bureaucratic, getting promoted is really hard, depends on your seniority.
    *There are no trainings when you are onboarded.
    *Very strict compliance to company policy, and yet you get paid really small, plus NO BENEFITS. I really aplaud people who stayed for six months even.
    *Your boss doesn't really care about you, again, people get promoted because of seniority.
    *Heck, you have to bring your own water, even drinking water is not free!!
    *To completely break the deal, they use very old computers and very legendary Office softwares. Thus, below average efficiency.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Management should pay attention to who they hire as managers. The managers aren't competitive enough to be honest.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook

    I have been working at SM Retail full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    * biggest retail industry
    * prestige
    * stable company,
    * benefits are ok. It has E Card, Leaves are convertible to cash, HMO
    * good training ground
    * will definitely take advantage of your management skills

    Cons

    * no internet access
    * frisking in and out of the office
    * outdated HR policies
    * out numbered staff
    * unpaid overtime for back office
    * too many stairs, cannot use the elevator
    * few equipments and facilities

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Check the HR policies, some of them are out dated and not applicable anymore in these times

    Hire more employees. Some employees are working double or longer since they have to do a job of 2 or more people. They lost some of the good ones since they don't feel they deserve their pay in commensurate to their work load.

    Make their offices conducive and inspiring to work at.

    Pull out all outdated and aged equipments. Update your facilities

    Make the working days 5 days a week or at least everyone gets an alternate Saturday off. Your employees have other life than working.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
