Great company that offers excellent potentials

    Functional Manager (Current Employee)
    Ottawa, ON (Canada)

ProsExciting technologies; dedicated and professional coworkers

Consfrequent change of directions; not a 100% software company yet

Advice to Senior ManagementListen more to people in the trench, pay attention to culture and ensure company offers the valuable culture that can retain its loyal employees and in the same time introduce elements so people can not be too content with status quo

ConsFacing some changes after got a new CEO.
New line of products to business industry could be a challenge.

Good when I started but then reality set in

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Calgary, AB (Canada)

ProsGood place to get 2 years experience, after that get out. It was reasonably good 5 years ago when I started but went downhill rapidly just before the IPO. Seems like they are trying to turn it around but the executive needs to put a wrecking ball through management.

ConsNo career progression in the company. People are rewarded for butt-kissing and not results. Micromanaging. Management is more concerned about not having staff that will outshine them than producing or developing. They also don't know how to schedule. They cut staff and keep the schedule the same.

Advice to Senior ManagementI hope your days are numbered.

    Coordinator

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsDidn't like much, not much training (if any), poor salary, management was terrible

ConsHorrible management, very disorganized company, positive or negative experience seems completely dependent on what department you are in.

Mostly positive, however, lacks good career development and compensation not so great.

    Functional Manager (Current Employee)
    Calgary, AB (Canada)

ProsVery innovative, good work life balance, cool atmosphere.

ConsNot well defined career development. Benefits are very limited with respect to compensation. Bonus can be great. Not too sure about the future of the company

Advice to Senior ManagementHopefully you can implement all the things that you claim to bring change that you promised.

    Great coworkers

    Software Developer (Current Employee)
    Calgary, AB (Canada)

ProsA large, diverse and fun group to work with. Most people are younger and a lot of people hang out after work. There is also very little stress since the company is more of a hardware company than a software company.

ConsThe pay is on the low side, which leads to high turnover. Also most of the software is developed using legacy technologies which are not the easiest to maintain.

A few more random things. Finding parking is difficult. Some employees park like 1KM away and then walk. Also there's no Stampede or Christmas parties. Cafeteria is also not the greatest and there's no alternative food choices around.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Revenue decline and company facing tough challenges

    Senior Software Developer (Former Employee)
    Calgary, AB (Canada)

ProsGood team environment and team mates

ConsBusiness rely on education market which is shrinking.
Each year you have to set up a goal make yourself a little bit uncomfortable. And you have to reach your goal on your own time.
Limited paid parking. Employee has to find parking in nearby community.
