    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

Good product, a Good place for people right out of school looking to gain some experience

    Cons

No engagement from management, No professional development, Field units are very much siloed, No best practices established, Little to no training on product or procedures, Unprofessional business acumen.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Upper Management, Increase engagement by ensuring that middle management actually engages with their teams. Listen to your employees and set some "Best Practices" for your business. Terminate ineffective managers as soon as possible.

I worked at SMART Technologies full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    Sadly, nothing to put here

    Cons

Starting salary low so negotiate your salary before accepting offer - difficult if not impossible to succeed - goals way out of reach and have to be fulfilled above and beyond work time so cuts into work/life balance - no consideration for 'doing your job' well day after day - no respect for the 'Steady Eddie' - education discrimination (anything less than a Canadian university degree is considered beneath them) - preach that they have good work/life balance but don't practice it - forced to use your 'work/life balance' time for mandatory Christmas shutdown - if you can make a good chart you're the best - management has very little training in human behavior from the top down - management style is upstream focused and not downstream focused - singled out individuals are ignored until they basically leave the company

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

EVERY person who works at SMART should feel like they are appreciated for working there. If your people are stressed out and unhappy there is no way the company will succeed - and 'replacing' the 'malcontents' with 'compliant' replacements is not the long-time healthy way to address the problem. Build a sense of family within your culture and get rid of the harsh statements like 'don't be a victim' (this from a Director). People should not be just a commodity...

I have been working at SMART Technologies full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I decided to work here because they are very good at selling the company and its future so I mistakenly decided to take the offer and work for SMART.

    Cons

Sad environment, people shows happiness in front of the management but once they are gone people show how worried they are, insecure, unstable... Now they cut our salaries and they announced that the bonus will be only 50% because the company was down significantly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To engage people you don't need to be a clown in front of the audience, you need to be real

    I worked at SMART Technologies

    Pros

Great culture, Amazing people, best atmosphere an intern could ask for. People here will help you progress in your career and grow continuously.

    Cons

Location is really the only complain I have. I can't really say anything else bad about this amazing, revolutinizing company that has completely changed the way it operates over the last year.
