I worked at SPS Technologies full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Very co-operative employees-Great place to work and learn-lack of training in across the system. Management want you to be work 12 hours a week -365 days. Needs more qualify employee to make the product. Leader needs to know what they are doing.

    Cons

Great benefits-perks. There are so many ways to grow in the company by taking challenges and working hard. Company had returns the parts $500,000 from the customer in last quarter due to quality issues.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to stable and get enough engineers on the board to cover all area.

I have been working at SPS Technologies full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The potential for learning is limitless but you have to be willing to learn and work hard.
Everyday is a chess game if you like chess.
Plenty of good systems in place (they're just not being followed).

    Cons

About 90% of the people here do not know what they're doing, of the 10% that do know what they are doing its a mix of oldtimers nearing retirement and short timers on a stepping stone.
Also be ready to do someone else's job because they either don't know what they're doing or are lazy to do their job and will simply blame you for it.
If you're one of the good ol' boys or a "yes man" you can basically getting away with anything including not doing your job.
There's also a total lack of accountability, you can basically run a whole job to scrap but as long as ESH is made then its ok.
Rules, regulations, specifications aren't allowed to get in the way of the dollars.
Expect your job role to change or wear "many hats" even if the hats are a conflict of interest.
Be ready to work Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays such as Christmas Day because you can't stop the dollars.
The sinking ship will get what's coming to them. (Hourly employees have already tried to unionize at least TWICE).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If something still isn't working with the revolving door of managers/supervisors in a dept, it's probably best to start looking at the next level down.
Use skilled/trained personnel for critical operations instead of temps who won't know or care about what they're doing.
Do what you say and say what you do.

    Pros

Short travel time, close to Home.

    Cons

Used to be a Great Great Company to work for. Now that it`s owned by PCC it`s a horrible work atmosphere. Company does not care one bit about it`s employees. Will replace you in a heart beat if they decide you no longer fit into their mold.

    Pros

Nice tool room with opening windows on one end and a wooden floor. Some people are good to work with. Jobs sizes are small so you do not have to run a large lots.

    Cons

Most machines are antiquated and generally a dull manufacturing environment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make the rates on jobs more realistic so you dont have to play games with time.

I worked at SPS Technologies full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Many opportunities to do varying tasks at the factory. Everything from DOE to quality control can be done here.

    Cons

High pressure with difficulties between the management and the machinists.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More structure to the interning system. A system where previous intern's project can be continued would be very beneficial. I repeatedly saw projects that were started and ended which could have been finished very easily if tracked properly.
