    Pros

Great benefits. Great retirement, the gave me my clearance

    Cons

Management is top heavy. When contract was over they could care less abou you. No support in finding new roles to fill.

    Advice to Management

Don't just hire ex military, you need to hire young and experience individuals.

    Pros

Great Benefits and the company does try make the employee happy. Good people work there

    Cons

Management needs an injection of new business practices. Holding onto the old at the expense of the new. Hoping for new business won't do when you need to go out and get that new business. Much older employees are tolerated at the expense of the new ones. Not allowing your younger and capable employees to move up get the experience vital to keeping the company current and competitive.

    Advice to Management

Take charge of your sites. Not all of them are managed properly. Stop looking at just their money management. Get some new faces in there with some fresh ideas on running business and the culture.

    Pros

Very flexible hours. Select from core hours of 9-3 and the other hours are your choice. No set in stone deadlines. Work at your own pace. Good retirement plan. Nice office. If you like siting around at the computer a lot this is the job for you.

    Cons

Very sub-par pay. Internet is very slow at office a lot.

    Pros

Great 401K. Nice bathrooms. Clean working conditions. Good heating and Air-Conditioning. Located next to DMV. Good workout/gym facilities.

    Cons

Management lacks basic management skills. Top heavy in managers, directors, and VPs, who really do not know what they are doing. Bad decision making. Very little due process. Huge Country Club atmosphere at SRC. Wasteful in personnel, resources, and materials.

    Advice to Management

SRC management could receive the best advice possible to help them grow their business and they would still not listen. So giving any advice to them would be a waste of time. Their entire work ethic is based on what is best for the SRC Country Club.

    Pros

Very organized structure with the right types of people in the right positions (for the most part) - great leaders, talented engineers, responsive and capable technicians, visionary business developers, etc. Not-for-profit status allowed lots of reinvestment into the employees - amazing benefits and plenty of company parties and events--fancy Christmas parties, chili cook-offs, monthly/quarterly birthday cake, even paper airplane contests. Lots of young, talented engineers right out of college gave the department a vibrant atmosphere and lots of fresh ideas. Great collaboration, rigorous design reviews, top-notch products, customer focus, high morale, reasonable work hours, not much else to ask for!

    Cons

Located in Syracuse, NY There was often a shortage of test equipment, making it hard to test engineering products in development. The company had tried to grow too fast while I worked there--this diluted the talent pool in engineering somewhat and ultimately led to an unsustainable workforce (they had the first layoff in decades towards the end of my tenure there and additional layoffs afterwards). It's a defense contractor, so all the cons that come along with being tied to the DoD for revenue applied here. Salaries seemed a little below average

    Advice to Management

Don't try to be Lockheed or Boeing or Harris--there are already enough of those, and they aren't really great companies.

    Pros

    Good leadership, people and benefits.

    Cons

Not "competitive" pay. Not a clear path for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Combine sick leave and vacation into PTO. Reevaluate "competitive" pay scale. Create promotion paths.

    Pros

Not much lately. Managers have a phony and superficial emphasis on personal growth and "fun"

    Cons

Very limited upward opportunities even for the most talented. Many highly talented engineers have left to pursue other opportunities. Poor overall company strategy. Human Resource political correctness police allowed to take over engineering. Severe nepotism.

    Advice to Management

Develop a strategy using the work force inputs, opinions and participation. Stop trying to be a defense contractor. Do NOT base corporate goals on "revenue targets".
