Senior Research Engineer (Former Employee) Saint Petersburg, FL

Not much communication between research groups. Innovation is low.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsIf you have a PhD, you might be able to do some research. Expect a close office.

ConsResearch groups do not mix much. The PI will decide for you what you should work on, if you are allowed to write papers or not. Do not expect the PI to promote you to become a PI. You will keep working for him or her to write his or her papers.

Advice to Senior ManagementNon PI need more freedom to have a say in the research they want to do. Grant money is not owned by a PI, it should be managed by the group of researchers that was able to obtain that grant.

Great tech company, needs new leadership at Princeton location

Senior Technician (Former Employee) Princeton, NJ

ProsWorld class technical staff, wonderful people to work with. Good pay and benefits.

ConsPrinceton location (formerly Sarnoff Corp.) is older facility, needs makeover. Projects and money are micro-managed from on high; need new leadership in Princeton.

Advice to Senior ManagementBring in projects from other areas, don't beat a dead horse, stop the 57 varieties of a few products. Bring in new leadership that has technical competence and foresight. Listen to your technical staff. They're the ones that do the work and are the experts.

    Great place to learn

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsIt's a great place to learn!

ConsYou'll get stuck in one place and be doing the same sort of work. Plus management has their own worries

Great innovation but slow to catch on

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Menlo Park, CA

    ProsGreat research, projects, innovation
    Brilliant people to work with

ConsSenior management is very traditional, slow
    Resistance to change
Budget is always a problem (granted, this varies from division to division and their subgroups)

Advice to Senior Management(corporate only) Embrace technology rather fight it - get a cohesive system in place

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company
