I worked at SSM Health full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Family like staff- worked with great Drs and nurses and ancillary staff members. Love the "concept" of the mission.

    Cons

7 middle managers in 7 years?!? Speaks volumes to upper managements game. But for some reason, the middle managers who know the least about their units last the longest!! All about the MONEY$$$

    Advice to Management

Go back to your mission, it is what kept you worthwhile. Now your just another backstabbing, money hungry, " not for profit" business. Stop cutting off your hands. Your nurses are your hands and feet. You can't do anything when you handicap yourselves the way you do.

    Cons

Politics of administration. Poor work/life balance. Struggle to manage values and mission in changing healthcare.

    Advice to Management

Increase wages of middle management or provide more help. Expectations are huge; time is precious and a minimum.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at SSM Health full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You have the unique opportunity to influence troubled kids through dark times; hospitals are clean.

    Cons

RN's can be nasty superiors. You operate under their registered license yes, but they tend to be passive aggressive and belittle you and demean female staff whenever an opportunity presents itself. Given the roof of respect and responsibilities you receive, it's no wonder that other techs tend to find less and less reason to work harder.

    Advice to Management

Employees would like to be thought of as assets not liabilities. Surface level solutions and staff undermining really damage team membership morale.

    Pros

Outstanding pay, supervisor definitely appreciates you and is very understanding and genuine.

It's the upper people as far as management and directors that are ignorant.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the manager and director and teach them to not be such snakes in the grass.
