I worked at STL Technology Partners as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

compensation was fair, good communication, listened to feedback, quick response when there were issues, developed and fostered good relationship with corporate clients, recruiters and HR staff were friendly, there were good strides to make connections with others working in the community for STL

    Cons

reserved in approached to discuss concerns with corporate client, took a wait and see, no news is good news, over promised and under delivered on assignment, took a short term contract under the idea that it would convert to a fulll time offer after the end of the short term , afterr that point did not expect another short term contract

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

open and honest communication with assigned associates and with the corporate client always is the best solution.

    Pros

    - The company leaves you alone while you work on site at the client. Other contracting firms have a tendency to check up on you often but STL leaves you alone as long as everything is operating smoothly.

    - Good Benefits for a consulting firm

    Cons

    - Only 7 days off for your first year.
    - Lack of feedback/ low growth potential

I worked at STL Technology Partners as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

Great support by STL staff while on assignment.

    Cons

Neglected to let me know I'd be working in an open room with a team of 8 to 9 people in what the client called a "collaborative environment" where there was zero privacy to conduct meetings, reduce distractions, and hold meetings in person or on the phone. I couldn't perform or get work done due to this working arrangement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tell employees the working environment of the client before you hire them.

I worked at STL Technology Partners full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

It's not very often you get a first hand view of how to not run a business. I got to have that experience working at STL Technology Partners. The owners "The Norman Family" has their staff of indentured servants that have been on the payroll for years and do a great job of attending endless meetings. If you have little talent or skills apply here... there's a good chance you can have secure employment just by "being a part of the family".

    Cons

If you have any talent, drive, or want to get paid a commission on anything you sell this is not a place to work. The entire company is based of living off of State Farm revenue and trying to keep the owners fragile ego healthy. There is a very low ceiling and there are no mentors to teach anything besides how to brown nose.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Tim... The sky may be the limit but your nose in buried in Ed Rusts backside.

I have been working at STL Technology Partners full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The sales team, recruiters, and management have really focused in on growing outside of the local area. With the new growth, there is a great deal of focus being put towards growing their people by bringing in people who can help mentor the existing employees, but with the growth they have seen, there are now opportunities to move up within the company

    Cons

It's really fast-paced at times, but that is mainly being driven by the growth the company is currently seeing

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your people are counting on you for leadership....keep the growth coming!

I worked at STL Technology Partners

    Pros

Super small company with a smaller management structure, allowing for quick decisions and a more precise scope rather than monolithic companies. Recruiters are friendly and quick to provide solutions to customers, allowing for potential work. The staff is generally pleasant.

    Cons

Lack of communication with the employee that is assigned to the client. If there's an issue, you won't know about it. You'll be there one day, and gone the next. Very typical of a small, meandering company. Recruiters use the same tactics on you that they use on clients . . . get you in, then honeymoon's over. Thankfully I know people and found out the real reason why the contract was released . . . it was an issue with STL.

Very little fish in a very large pond.

Don't waste your time with this "wanna-be", Successories-cliche-driven company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Further invesitigate your resources and what they provide. After being "released", I took my skills to an insurance company here in Bloomington, where my skills are recognized, and communication is more concise. With that, your loss. In the event your personnel were more sensitive to skills, and provide more respect to professionals in their field, you might have yourself a solid consulting company.
