Pros
Good work environment
No Aggressive schedule
Cons
Less pay
less growth as senior people don't leave
Advice to Senior Management
Need to put more focus on the technical growth ladder
Pros
Good technology, good products and work life balance.
Cons
Limited scope for career growth.
Advice to Senior Management
Transparency in promotions is required.
Pros
Very less and simple work, even non-technical persons can also do the technical work at ST. Safe haven for inefficient managers and engineers for longer stay. Less availability of good vlsi engineers in New Delhi area therefore there is job security.
Cons
Most of the immediate supervisors/managers are inefficient therefore they always support their inefficient team members for their own job security and growth.
Mostly promotions and good salary hike are given to least performer and inefficient employees causing best performer to leave the company.
Knowledge of dirty politics is required for better growth and job security.
Not recommended to work for more than 4 years else he/she will become jack of all trades and master of none.
Advice to Senior Management
The senior management should replace 95% of middle management.
The team members should do appraisal to their immediate supervisor.
Pros
Work life balance is great. Not a single project in 2.5 years demanded staying back till late. In fact staying back till late was questioned. It is a good place to retire, because there is not much growth. ST is your typical enterprise with many processes well established, if not optimized.
Cons
There is not much growth in this company. My specific team is marred with dirty politics and favoritism. There is a lot of bureaucracy to get good ideas implemented. ST is your typical enterprise which has a lot of momentum and doesn't seem to change. It still respects seniority over performance when it comes to salaries and promotions.
Advice to Senior Management
The management seems to consist of many well-experienced folks. But this also means they are from an era bygone! Even moderately recent technologies are unheard of. For example, web design is still done in HTML, not PHP, not AJAX, not Flex, but plain old HTML. State of some affairs are really sad with the decision maker being retrograde. Getting processes optimized is a pain point, even if one has numbers to prove their point.
Management buy-in for new ideas is far less than it should be. I wish senior management would leave experimenters alone, with reasonable help and funds, rather than getting stuck with approval for each and every minor change.
Also a big change can be brought if Information Technology is implemented, for knowledge management and improving usability of daily tasks, in the ideal way info tech is meant to be used.
Pros
Balance life between Work and family.
Good Exposure to Technology.
Wide Variety of Work in ASIC domain.
Employee Friendly and Good at Recession.
Cons
Low Compensation.
Limited Growth Options.
Politics and Inter Team differences.
Manager and Employee relationship is very bad.
No recognition and Rewards for High Performing Employee.
Advice to Senior Management
Remove all Dump Managers.. Good for nothing, Create hinderence on people development and technical and personnel growth.
No rewards and appreciation from Middle and High Level Management in India.
Focus is on politics and not on work.
Pros
Interesting work, Great guidance from management
Cons
relatively average/low pay, dearth of employee benefits
Advice to Senior Management
Better monetary compensation, better employee benefits
Pros
Good balance of work & personal life.
open culture.
routine life 8 am to 5:30 pm.
Cons
No technical growth you are proactive enough.
Lots of politics in higher management.
their is no respect for any individual.
getting a good team is a luck.
average hike and salary.
all decisions, how minor it be, are driven from outside.
Advice to Senior Management
Remove all dumb and put some able technical persons on post who could handle matter well. There is no vision and long term goal. Everything
Pros
- Good for long term
- Smart engineers around
- Good knowledge sharing
- Good managers
- Good employee oriented policies
- Good technically challenging projects to work on
Cons
- projects are lost sometimes
- Lack of marketing vision
- Frequent team re-orgs
Advice to Senior Management
- Promote creative projects and involvement of employees in to innovation
Pros
A lot of devices to work. New technologies. Highly skilled employes.
Cons
Slowness.. very less knowledge sharing on new technologies
Advice to Senior Management
Proactiveness in every level is must.
Effective peoplemanagement is required to improve their skill sets and knowledge
Pros
interesting work, decent team and cutting edge technology.
decent pay package and friendly policies
Cons
limited visibility, at times the work gets monotonous, limited opportunities in semiconductors give few exit options.
the area of work is very niche and moving out of semiconductors to some other domain without an MBA seems impossible. if you want to leave then start preparing and try to crack B - schools.
Advice to Senior Management
to be a little more open and transparent in their dealings with the employees and early communication of changes in policies and business directions.
in addition, having a clear guidance on the way people are promoted would be great.
