    Pros

Culture, management was great, overall leadership was excellent. Always room for growth opportunities. Forward thinking mfg style. Always looking to improve.

    Cons

French and Italian based company. This ultimately led to the closing of all mfg sites in the US.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Should have kept the US mfg facilities.

I have been working at STMicroelectronics as an intern (more than a year)

    Pros

I had a great internship in The Portland Group, which used to be part of STMicroelectronics at that time. There were a lot of great people to learn from and interesting challenging tasks.

    Cons

Company is not in its best shape for last few years, therefore there are limited career opportunities. Hopefully that would change in the future.

    Pros

Very nice company to work for. Great life/work balance. Encouraged to do innovative work. Travel to Europe.

    Cons

The present CEO has not been a success. The company is becoming very insular (in my opinion). From being one of the top 3 semiconductor companies it is shrinking into a medium sized power and analog products company.

I have been working at STMicroelectronics full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Have well documented and organized company policies to follow with.
Goals of each person, team, division, and business unit are very clear.

    Cons

Hard to get the support from other groups or corporate.
Hard to get enough resources for the groups that acquired by ST.
Career paths inside ST are limited.
Benefit plan is not so good.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

For product development, should be fair to the groups acquired by ST to get enough resources to get the jobs done.

I have been working at STMicroelectronics full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good technical class of people to work with.

    Cons

Very poor management for North America Operation. Management from Geneva are completely disconnected from North America region. So growth and future are skeptical if you are located in this region.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not close sites by looking at financial numbers. Management must see the potential or capabilities of the product. Number will automatically increase when product will go to market in a larger volume. DO not hesitate to try new thing. Every companies is doing that now. Intel changed its face from tradiation Microprocessor to SOcs and tablets, nvidia started makinng CPU, Microsoft entered more and more into hardware so ST should think beyond its MEMS and microcontrollers.
