I have been working at SUPERVALU (Less than a year)

    Pros

You stay busy. I've heard there is opportunity to grow within company. On boarding process was simple. Perhaps too simple...

    Cons

Lack of direction and communication from management. Overworked and underpaid. No sense of team collectively. Left to fend for yourself when in need of help or advice. Many are stuck in their old ways and are resistant to change.

    Advice to Management

Create job aids, communicate and work with employees to achieve a common goal.

    Pros

Decent place to work. Pretty political

    Cons

Overworked and under apaid. Seems unorganized

    Advice to Management

Need to listen more to reports who are actually hands on with the real day to day activities of the business

I worked at SUPERVALU full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Worked my way up from entry level to management, and know many others who did the same. Tried out a variety of job functions to learn about the business.

    Cons

Grocery isn't the sexiest field out there; you're not likely to wow anyone at a cocktail party with stories about working here!

I have been working at SUPERVALU full-time

    Pros

Leadership is probably the best that it has been in awhile. Current CEO tries to connect with the employees but often fails as he does not understand the difference between his salary and those of the vast majority who work for the company. I will give him kudo's for trying!

    Cons

There use to be a lot of pros that have now turned cons. It was like a family among the employees and family always came first. Not anymore. Since the purchase and sale of Albertson's it has become a cut-throat business. Along with this change came the loss of company loyalty and the willingness to work hard. You are not appreciated. 401K is basically gone.

    Advice to Management

Appreciate your employees and don't just say it, mean it and show it everyday.

    Pros

    Reasonable Bennefits occasional company functions

    Cons

Lots of In-Fighting between the different departments and very little collaborative cooperation. Business priorities change by the minute, goals and compensation are unfairly concealed until after the latest period stock results are announced. Management is a bit top heavy and mid/low level management is unfairly over tasked with unrealistic goals.

    Advice to Management

Hang on to and reward your top performers. Align expectations and business need for a result driven culture.

I worked at SUPERVALU full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The company had talented and committed people throughout the organization and new ideas were solicited often..

    Cons

New ideas were traded in for newer ones often, without allowing enough time for anything to gain traction. Strategies changed constantly.
