    Pros

Great benefits, once you're in they take time to cultivate you.

Too many others in your territory, holds a lot of the market share

I worked at SYSCO Food Services of Baltimore full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Yeah, they offer PTO, medical, dental, etc. Who doesn't? Oh, and parking is free. Yay.

    Cons

The general management style is "Morale will improve or the beatings will continue". Most employees have been there for 20+ years not because it's a great place, but because they don't know any better and/or don't have any transferable skills.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You need a serious shuffle of management up top. Everyone knows the weak links - it's nepotism that has got them there and is keeping them there. Not results, not positive leadership.

I worked at SYSCO Food Services of Baltimore

    Pros

Sysco provides a good benefits package including a pension, medical, dental, and vision. There is also a 401k. Sysco is a national company, allowing for possible relocation.

    Cons

There is not a good work/life balance, and little tolerance for family needs. There is no good career path. There are more opportunities in Houston at the headquarters, but it is harder to lateral there than it is to hire there from outside. Education is not valued and will not contribute to your career progression/promotability.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take a look at turnover by department, and you will see some clear patterns. You should be asking yourself why.

I worked at SYSCO Food Services of Baltimore

    Pros

Training, product mix, the leader in the industry. Good bonus program. Advancement is out there if you desire to do so.

    Cons

This is really a 7 day a week position. You certainly have flexibility during the work day, but many customers order on the weekends which trancends into a very hard time of planning your weekends. It is almost impossible to attend your child's ballgame or wedding. You have to make arrangements to have someone cover your customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Read those employee satisfaction surveys!
