    Pros

Agency is smaller than you would think, makes it easy to get to know people (the ones that stick around anyway). Relatively small account teams on just about every piece of business means you'll be busy but probably get real opportunities/responsibilities. Leadership is generally pretty accessible and transparent about where the agency is headed. Good account people can move up quickly.

    Cons

High turnover agency-wide. New (2014) creative leadership are taking their time to backfill empty positions. Creative resources dept is not helpful and is the biggest obstacle to anything getting done on time. Regular training program does not exist - ad hoc training sessions seem to pop up at random, but there's seemingly no cadence. A handful of "experts" with fabricated C-suite titles have been brought in - it is not clear whether these people actually work on any client business. Office renovations have been promised...no sign of their execution. The space is very 1970's right now.

    Advice to Management

Fully staff the creative department. Overhaul the creative resources department. Provide more regular training, especially for junior level employees.

    Pros

    Very nice location
    Above average wages
    Holidays

    Cons

CEO made a lot of promises that haven't been kept.
    Low morale
    Lose client after client
    Below average work creatively

    Advice to Management

Many promises were made when the "new" CEO, over 18 months ago, too over. But instead of following through, things became even worse, and it comes across as arrogance. You keep on firing quality staff if they aren't part of the boys club, or they aren't attractive enough if they are women. We notice! I would like to see global leadership take over and remove the local leadership, to save the agency.

    Pros

The people are great - egos are hard to come by here which is rare in advertising. Everyone is always having a lot of fun which makes the days go by in a snap. The CEO also has a great energy and is exactly the kind of leader Saatchi needs right now.

    Cons

Saatchi just really needs a big pitch win - it's been a while since we've had a significant win which is effecting the energy in the agency a bit

    Advice to Management

Do the things you can to retain people, even if it isnt money

    Pros

Good, smart, hard working people who care about one another. Leadership is composed of solid, approachable individuals who have a clear vision as to where the agency needs to go and the obstacles to getting there. Leadership and most everyone genuinely seem to care about the people and the work. This is not an ad agency where you'll find a bunch of egotistical blowhards who fly off the handle.

    Cons

Due to its size, Saatchi can feel like a slow moving, archaic agency of olden times. It's something everyone realizes and wants to desperately improve. If you don't have a solid mentor, you're out of luck because that's the only way you'll really get solid training.

    Advice to Management

Make sure that people receive solid training!

    Pros

Nice work environments, competitive salary, deeply talented co-workers

    Cons

Advertising is tough, the industry is in turmoil, and transitions to better digital media support are rough for traditional agencies.

    Advice to Management

Better pairing of creative and strategy.

    Pros

Teams are full of awesome people
    Laid back management (account specific)
    Good job security
    Excellent work/life balance

    Cons

Seniority is more highly rewarded than merit
Not a whole lot of room to grow

    Advice to Management

Get some younger talent into more decisive positions... innovation is the key to remaining at the top of the advertising market.

    Pros

Talented, awesome, friendly people in all departments - particularly creative. Decent benefits. Summer Fridays. Nice location. New CEO & CCO seem to have a clear vision for success, and are very transparent and straightforward about plans, news, etc.

    Cons

No culture. With all the losses lately, the company has become very uptight. Frequent hiring freezes and an ever-dwindling budget. The office itself is extremely outdated and run-down by industry standards. Relationships with clients often seem strained, as do relationships within the agency itself (between creative, account, and production). Depending on the team, it can feel very much at times like creative vs. account rather than everyone working together to sell an idea. Sometimes account will even UNsell ideas... which isn't very hard considering many of the clients are resistant to anything that seems vaguely innovative.

    Advice to Management

Work to improve relationships between departments and with clients. Establish and promote a company culture; make employees feel PROUD to work at Saatchi. Encourage all departments to defend the work and work together to make it great.

    Pros

Hours are reasonable when not under deadline pressure. You will rarely stay past 6pm and for the most part, can maintain a nice work-life balance. There is ample opportunity to work on a wide variety of projects. Excellent location in Hudson Square - close to the 1 subway and a short walk to West 4th, plenty of places to eat and local parks.

    Cons

Limited ability for growth. Company is frequently on a "hiring freeze" and they do not give cost of living salary bumps on an annual basis. Upper management really doesn't manage. It's a very dysfunctional office, where communication between creative, account, and production departments is very poor. The policies for maintaining this communication on your teams are even more unclear. First media organization I have worked in during my 15+ professional years when I have not learned something from a more senior employee. The "long timers" here seem to be milking the clock until retirement, instead of blazing a trail for the future. In my five years here, I have not received one performance review. Human resources is non existent. They can't even figure out how to pay freelance employees and the only time you see them is when they are laying somebody off or reacting to an employee lawsuit.

    Advice to Management

Invest in your employees, promote from within, reward your employees instead of threatening them. Embrace new technology. Do not mock past employees during agency meetings. It's juvenile.

    Pros

Large budgets, great brands and incredible work/talent

    Cons

Many aspects of the agency are stuck in the stone ages, it was also the most stressful job I have ever had.
