    Pros

S&S has a very laid back atmosphere. There is a fitness center and rooftop track and it's located in a great neighborhood with great views of the Hudson river. If you play your cards right you can get out of there by 5:30-6:00 on most days.

    Cons

Like many old-school agencies, they are way behind in the digital realm. If you're looking for atmosphere, this isn't the place for you – there is none. Bad behavior is generally tolerated and at times even rewarded. Not a lot of room to get ahead as there aren't many opportunities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Realize your employees are your pride and maybe they will show their passion in return.

Poorly Run from the top in Midtown

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    Pros

Great, creative people and fun personalities.
    Loose work atmosphere.
    Casual Fridays.

    Cons

Poor upper management in corporate office in Midtown.

Very little new business and lots of money spent on trying to get it.

Middle management has no say in anything and gets told what to do by corporate.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop trying to get everybody to like you and start managing like you should.

An old battleship, not a rocket

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in New York, NY

    Pros

    > Big, legacy clients who aren't going anywhere-- meaning relative job security
    > Everyone basically has their office (sometimes with great views)-- if you ever need a Don Draper nap, just close and lock your door
    > Each department is respected -- creative, planning, account do listen to each other
    > People are generally nice and open-minded
    > There are some really talented people esp. the strategic planners, but it is inconsistent-- you still have ivory tower planners, too
    > Competitive pay-- no bonus though
    > There's still a "mystique" about the name "Saatchi"-- doesn't hurt the resume
    > Great lunch places in the West Village

    Cons

    > Let's be honest here: It's a 1980's TV agency. There is zero digital capability here. If you want to do award-winning, non-traditional work, you will be very frustrated here
    > Absolutely no sense of agency culture. Each account is so big, that the teams work independently without ever needing to talk to each other-- it's an agency of strangers spread across 3 floors, pin-drop quiet at times
    > Old-boys club at the top-- the guys in it think it's cool, everyone else just think it's toxic. Literally, there are old account and creative people who have been there for decades, but instead of being wise, they're just outdated, insecure and tone-deaf
    > Lovemarks is a hoax. It's a new shiny business device that is never applied in the actual day-to-day work-- it is openly ridiculed in the office
    > Client-base is made up of marketing technocrats who hate creative risk and love having meetings
    > Many people who love complaining "about how busy they are"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on one thing you want to be known for and just go for it. Creative awards? Effectiveness? Blue-chip stability? It certainly ain't Lovemarks. Your employees are ready to believe in something-- anything.

    Pros

Nice working environment, young and fun people, pretty good pay when you are up to middle level management position.

    Cons

Like most agency, a huge amount of work everyday. It takes too long, normally 3-5 years to go up to middle level positions.
