    Pros

I was treated fairly well. they try to make it a good place to work. not a lot of pitches. very few weekends. I worked on the Toyota biz. The clients were nice and didn't meddle. rarely even came to shoots.

    Cons

Politics within the groups. Some backstabbing. Too much attitude. This "you have to go get another offer before we'll give you a raise" was BS.
They constantly flip top management. which just rains confusion and shuffle. They wacked 7 creative directors right at christmas. nice. that made me start to sniff around for something else. they expect loyalty, but offer none.
How do you remove a guy who was just named Adweek's "West coast agency leader of the year"?

  3. No unique "culture" or product - a weirdly bland agency

    Pros

My director was great - smart, creative, inventive

    Cons

Upper management was a mystery - CEO is strange and created this weird "Lovebrands" ideas, which doesn't seem to hold much traction with clients or staff. My group or "silo" team was very cliquish and very rah-rah yuppie - company clones -- a very "un-real" environment

    Advice to Management

Develop a culture that let's people be themselves

Office politics sometimes gets in the way as in most big agencies.

    Advice to Management

Nuture and cultivate your employees so the turnover rate is lower.

    Pros

Decent hours and plenty of projects

    Cons

No annual review, no chance for growth, salary compensation among employees not based on achievements

    Advice to Management

Reward achievers, have yearly reviews and the potential for advancement and develop better leadership and communication skills with your employees

    Pros

I worked with some smartest coolest people in my career

    Cons

Senior management, AS, Creative Project managment work in cylos with no support to the teams

    Advice to Management

Senior managment needs to check the egos and support the teams that make the day to day happen. The current GM of Saatchi and Saatchi Wellness is a numbers guy who makes it clear as he walks the halls how expendable his people are. The current CCO lacks any kind of backbone to lead her people and they walk all over her

    Pros

come into the office whenever, just get your work done
you can slack off on your work for the most part - i.e. not much accountability
    big name clients
there's a lot of beer around
casual, but definitely people who spend a lot on image (clothing wise)

    Cons

you can slack off on your work for the most part - i.e. not much accountability
they have no sense of what it means to do digital work
the employee hierarchy is really set up for broadcast and print
art directors/copywriters/creative directors kind of treat most people like they're beneath them
there's a lot of beer around
a weird male/female dynamic going on; not outright sexist but not equal either
seems like most people there are new (less than 1 year)

    Advice to Management

work on retaining a long-term staff

    Pros

Laid back attitudes. A lot of allowance for personal life as long as you're not on deadline. Flexible hours.

    Cons

Very little accountability for work on all levels. Most people just avoid taking any responsibility for work, and management encourages it. People are just making it up as they go along and trying to shift work to someones else or another department. Take initiative at your own risk.

    Advice to Management

There are too many managers who have been there for 10+ years, are no longer contributing, and are holding the company back. Find out what people's skills are and allow them to move to other departments or pitch in beyond their department role. Restructure executive leadership and hold people accountable for their actions.

    Pros

Saatchi looks nice on your resume since it's a big company. Others who don't know may think it's Saatchi in NYC and not the little company of 50 people in Yardley. Money is good. Nice new offices in Yardley, PA.

    Cons

Place is a revolving door. If you stay 3-4 years you'll be one of few. Management can't seem to forecast stable work needs so there are wild periods of hiring and then within a few months - layoffs. Finance and the bottom line is king. You're working on a project one day and they call you in and say they don't need you anymore. Very few of these decisions are performance driven. It makes for an extremely unstable environment, where most except for the upper management chosen few, are always worried about their jobs. It makes it for a difficult environment to be creative when you're always worried when your S&S career can end. Add to that the fact that there is a lot of gossip about each other and very little coordination, collaboration and mutual support between departments. Clients can sense this during pitches which is why this division wins very little new business.

    Advice to Management

Let employees know that if they do a good job-you'll in turn support them and keep them employed during the dry times. Foster a more collaborative environment.
