Pros
Generous time off policy
A LOT of communication from executive management
Mostly casual dress code
Friendly people
Easy to hide if you're mediocre but need a paycheck
Cons
Hard to really affect change
Not what I would call an innovative company (processes and development thinking is still 10+ years behind)
If you're an employee with a lot of time in don't expect a raise, but understand that new hires with a lot less experience and knowledge will be paid more than you since raises are non-existent
Way to much bureaucracy to get real work done, a TON of poor decisions by middle management trying to look like they have a clue
The shining example of people being promoted to their highest level of inadequacy
Advice to Senior Management
Remove roadblocks to innovation (too much unqualified middle management) and reward/pay your best employees to at least industry standard salaries... Stop resting on the fact your the biggest player and recognize you are way behind the times when it comes to software development and design
Pros
Travel is fun! The people are great!
Cons
The organization is fairly flat. So, hard to get promoted and move up the ladder.
Advice to Senior Management
Invest in your people. There is no reason to stay at Sabre from a long-term perspective.
Pros
There is a very good work life balance.
Flexible timings.
Reasonable time-offs, leaves.
Friendly environment.
Cons
Not very challenging work.
Compensation is ok but not very good
Advice to Senior Management
Give employees options to choose field of interest.
Pros
People are fantastic: smart, savvy industry folks who are very passionate about their work and the industry
Cons
Lack of growth and low attrition make career growth difficult. Based on my interviewing of folks, I get the impression that we may not be in tune with marketplace salaries either.
Pros
nice campus, "hip" workers, casual atmosphere
Cons
very techy, some attitudes/political drama among staff
Advice to Senior Management
Just be real.
Pros
Friendly atmosphere
Really smart people
Commmittment to social responsibility
Market leader focused on innovation
Flexible with time off and work life balance issues
Cons
The only thing that can be difficult for me is the commute. However, my team has the flexibility to work flex hours and work a day from home.
Advice to Senior Management
Overall, continue to value your employees and take care of any salary inequities that exist. Also, WFH is standard in the tech world and the company needs to be a little more flexible if it wants to attaract thee best IT practitioners.
Pros
Progressive, culturaly diverse, good work-life balance. Lots of good talent.
Cons
Too many 'veterans' who survive thru old boy/girl networks put up barriers to new blood, new ideas. Politics is rife and very pervasive in any position, Director and above.
Advice to Senior Management
Shake up mid to upper levele management to break down cliques and favoritism. Objectively start measuring contributions of all positions Director and above, and offer retirement packages to low performers.
Pros
Very focused on employees, retention, advancement, phenomenal benefits, eco-friendly, great vacations.
Cons
Long drive. Big office-can get lost.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep communicating!
Pros
The people are great. A lot of very knowledgable people work at Sabre. Everyone is always willing to help each other.
Cons
there is a lot of stress because there are not enough resources for the amount of work. It is hard to have a work life balance.
Advice to Senior Management
Listen to the people are who making you look good. Help to create a work life balance instead of contining to ask for more from people who are already over the edge.
Pros
Global company. Management is very stable. Excellent leadership communication...very transparent on positive issues and challenges. Very generous PTO policy. Strong on leadership development. Many groups allow work from home.
Cons
Can be v. political. Some groups only have work-work balance. This is a challenging industry, but company always seems to do quite well despite. I credit strong leadership and company reputation. Some groups see rampant reorgs making it difficult to operate.
Advice to Senior Management
Work on walking the walk on work-life balance.
