    Transparent management, open door culture, excellent domain experience, opportunities for job rotation. Sabre invests in its people, has a generous PTO policy and flexible working hours

    Provides an opportunity for creativity and innovation, in one of the most exciting industries - Travel. Offers lots of opportunity to experience different facets of the business.

    Cons

    The larger the organization the harder it can be to deliver unique value to customers while also taking care of one's employees. Sabre really strives to do both.

    Pros

    Flexible workplace, had a 'human touch' to all that they did and it was a great place to work. I left to take a higher paying job but it is no where near as enjoyable.

    Cons

    Sometimes the lines of authority were blurred and poorly thought through decisions were made. Salaries were not as strong as surrounding area companies and quite an attrition rate owing to money.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Be tougher at the top and stop the renegade decision making by various managers / directors / VP's that cost the company $000,000. Enforce policy, process, procedure and accountability.

    check thelayoff.com for sabre-holdings read the history of firing employees, also no ethics followed when firing employee they don't get chance to say Bye, even treated badly. (08-Jan-14) one of the mass layoff around 60 in a day.
    Manager driven culture no policies, favoritism.
    No Transparency or Openness , to many hidden parameters.
    Bangalore Center has created few custom designation and call them as desk title, and in letter they give previous title.
    every 3 years top mgmt changes and restructuring happens .....
    no even pay structure for same level.
    more manager per employee ratio

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Consider providing shares to all employees & not only for key people.
    allow 360 degree review for appraisal and not just accept what manager puts in the tool.
    no skip level meetings.

    Pros

    People are mostly good-natured and fun.
    They like them some technology.
    Nice facilities.
    Lax dress code.
    Work from home allowed.
    Many long-timers.
    MBA club - Does not make it easy. MBA managers have higher expectations.
    Great place for women, not so much for men. They go overboard on the PC and fairness crap to the detriment of non-preferred classes.
    Compensation decent - once in, they will claim to be restricted to low percentage adjustments so negotiate for max before hire. Ask for the salary range for the job. Ensure you are in the correct band - Developing, Proficient, Expert. At least ask for median.
    Job ID can determine bonus amount. If code is 40123, code 50123 has 2x bonus and salary range. The 5 job may not be available, but ask about promotion.

    Cons

    Regular reorganizations.
    No dedicated office space.
    Open floor plan/noisy.
    Loyalty to owners/stock price bring annual layoffs - Merry Christmas.
    Love outsourcing - can make for 1am conference calls and 20+ hour days.
    Shrinking customer base.
    Do not see as a growing business.
    Terror activity can have large, immediate impact to business.
    MBA club - creates a class culture.
    Perception of veiled hostility toward men.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    When laying people off, cut the non-performers. Across the board/everyone has to lose a head layoffs do nothing but allow managers to be vindictive to the people they don't like and demoralize employees. For all of the layoffs I went through, I was always amazed that some people were not impacted.

    Make HR do something worthwhile. HR should have a current profile of every employee. Shutting down a business unit and want to keep good employees? HR should be able to place them in one day. Career planning and management? HR should have current information so they can actively assist employees meet their goals. HR does nothing but manage the happy on-boarding and the hard-feelings off-boarding. You should invite all employees that have been laid off over the years to watch when HR has a purge. Would be a good opportunity for a happy hour. No, I was not laid off. I don't like HR as they don't help employees.

    You speak of mentoring. Sounds great doesn't it. Maybe add a formal structure to it?
