I worked at Sacred Heart Medical Center full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Loved my boss and other OT's. I worked with a friend of 30 years. Lots of people have been there for a while and always teaching students and getting new therapists. You can pick a specialty or you can be a generalist.

    Cons

It is huge and takes a lot of leg work to get from one end to the other. Felt overwhelming at first, but got used to it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need some place to work closer to the patients and Sacred Heart needs to be updated and remodeled. I don't think it has been remodeled in a long time and it looks shabby. For being such a prominent facility, it should look more modern. Also, why the low toilets? Especially on Ortho?

I have been working at Sacred Heart Medical Center part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, average pay, good company morals, expanding hospital branch. Committed to employees, good mission statement and morals. Difficult to achieve upward mobility on internal transfers.

    Cons

Pay is competitive. Difficult to achieve a promotion. Benefits are good if you work full time. If you are per diem you are basically on your own. Overall management of company finances and priorities has seemed questionable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Need to pay their employees better, therefore satisfying the healthcare workers and in turn creating better patient care which will create better patient satisfaction and therefore a better overall rating of the hospital instead of underpaying employees, paying for elaborate expensive decorations and running into a financial wall on the budget when trying to expand.

Former Employee - CNA in Springfield, OR

I worked at Sacred Heart Medical Center full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The hospital is very modern and efficient. There are many excellent nurses and charge nurses. Teamwork is great with the other CNAs and the level of independence to perform ones job is nice too. Opportunity to change departments or train for ward clerk is available.

    Cons

As a CNA, you should be accustomed to the bottom of the totem pole. Patient ratios are always on the high side, many RNs assume you are dumb, and prepare to be floated around without a say.
Staffing will call you on every one of your days off, and watch out because sometimes they will change your schedule without notice.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get out of the office and spend a day on the floor.
