    Non regular hours. sometimes i went months without phone calls.

    I have been working at Safeway Bread Plant

    Pros

    Pay is on the upper end of the pay range. Benefits are second to none. All the home time you want during the slow season.

    Cons

    Management looks down on the union employees. Half of their supervisors have no clue on how to bake! There is absolutely no advancement opportunity for union employees. Some union employees have more experience and education their supervisors. Management assigns more and more work and responsibility until their expectations are completely unreasonable. Some employees are forced to work 2 days a week during the slow season. Company uses the union contract only when it is convenient and fights tooth and nail when it isn't.

    Advice to Management

    Stop hiring business management as production supervisors and hire people that a know how to bake. Send all the supervisors to the Humble Academy and inform them that many of the union employees that they look down on out qualify them.
