Good People, Upper level management issues

R&D Member (Former Employee) Herndon, VA

ProsPeople are friendly and there is a real sense of team
Flexible work environment (flex hours, work from home, etc.)
Opportunities for learning exist if you take advantage of them.
BIG company feel for those that like it.

ConsUpper Management does not interact with employees frequently
Mid-level managers often have their hands tied by budget constraints.
Budgeting and funding of projects in the company defies logic.
Collaborating across campuses and products is pratically non-existent.

Advice to Senior ManagementTo provide the "excellent customer experience" that you talk so much about you are going to have to sacrifice some $$ and time.

Could be a contender, but won't be

    PMO (Current Employee) Scottsdale, AZ

ProsSome of the people, it's a paying job, good training for other industry jobs

ConsThere's a plan in place but we don't follow it, the company seems to be run at the whim of certain people who can convince upper management their idea is better than the last one; very dysfunctional, unprofessional, and rife with secret alliances.

Lack of resources, too many projects, and stratification of resources in place breeds no respect among them. No recognition for people who work hard unless you're in a select group. No company camaraderie.

Waste of time surveys gather information with which nothing is done.

For many people, it's just a job.

Advice to Senior ManagementSage won't keep us on the teet forever. If we don't deliver competitive product consistently we will be sold or worse shut down. It's simple math -- revenue must exceed burn rate. We can compete if you focus (and don't allow yourself to be distracted by the latest shiny object) and allow people to do their jobs.

Tremendous opportunity befuddled by executive management incompetence

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Irvine, CA

ProsInternational company with diverse and interesting work cultures. Location flexibility and ability to change division with relative ease. Good long term prospects.

ConsLack of enterprise and innovation from senior management. Employee initiative befuddled by beurocracy. New group CEO will hopefully mean a new regional CEO for north america

Advice to Senior ManagementRetire. You are strangling opportunity, enterprise and are a discredit to your employees, partners and customers. New regional CEO and senior executive team required asap. CEO, President of SBS, CFO, CTO and EVP of market strategy are utterly out of their depth

Enjoyable - I would recommend working here, but don't expect a raise

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGreat balance for work and family. Great people to work with and excellent benefits.

ConsPay raises rarely happen and there is no team bonding.

Advice to Senior ManagementI you see value and benefit in your employees, you should provide pay increases based on industry standards

    Training (Current Employee)

ProsGood company, good benefits, good people

ConsCan't think of any at this time. Its a big company so there is the usual red tape but overall a decent company to work for.

    Bad to worse

Sales (Current Employee) Richmond, BC (Canada)

ProsCan call in sick, benefits, RRSP matching and a clean office. Fast internet access for surfing and video.

ConsConfusing, layoffs, dated products, management is hahahahaaaaa hhahahaa very funny (not really). The more they change the management the same it stays. How is it possible that they keep finding people like this and no improvement. Nepotism and favouritism is settled here from the old management and now they are off to destroy other companies hahaha

Advice to Senior ManagementBest job you ever had for your qualities - fair is fair. Just dont get in my way please.

    Good place to learn

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsIf you want to learn you can.
    Great tuition reimbursement plan.

ConsMost employees are not passionate about their work.
Most employees just get their job done and leave.
    Low pay.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on your employees, pay them well, inspire them to want to perform and most of all be fair with pay.

Sage is a great company to work for.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsOffice culture is great for those with families.
Great rewards and praise for a job well done.
Always pushing for new and out of the box thinkers.

ConsIt is a very large organization, with many offices, where it can be easy to get lost in the crowd...
