Pros
*Recruiting actually recruits quality individuals and co-workers who are passionate individuals
*Benefits package is good (if you can actually get a full time position and as long as you never have to go on disability)
*Work usually doesn't translate into work that needs to be taken out of office to complete
Cons
*Absolutely zero communication between management and employees - changes are made and the front line employees are never informed about them
*Career advancement is impossible - management hires their friends and buddies to fill vacant positions and career development is no longer encouraged
*Training is non existent
*If you are a commissioned employee and do too well, they look for ways to diminish your pay after the fact
*Pay in general has been reduced across the board and each individual's responsibility increased
*Current management blames previous management for the sub-par work environment which is now currently enjoyed, yet employees and company were happy and thriving under previous leadership
*The company has no market strategy and does not understand it's customers' businesses or it's marketplace. Senior Management tries to dictate to it's customers what the marketplace should be and what their business needs are without actually listening to it's customers and front line employees who are the ones who actually interact with it's customers
Advice to Senior Management
It's time to lift your heads out of the sand. You've done all you can in terms of releasing staff to make numbers. Now that you cannot sustain your infrastructure by releasing any more, try developing a market strategy that is a little more developed than something like "you need to sell more". Open a hand and attempt to rebuild the shattered relationship and lack of trust you have created with your sales force, ultimately it's for your own good more than ours. Try listening to your employees instead of your internal accountants for a change. Also, try actually honoring the compensation packages that you provide to your sales staff instead of trying to stick it to them (illegally, I might add) if they actually achieve their numbers for once.
Pros
Fast High speed Internet Access
Roomy Facility
Cons
No one knows anything here
The senior management is a bad joke
Software expertise? None
Market Share? Gone
VPs of sales have been pathetic over the years - illegal, immoral and pathetic
GM is out of it!
Advice to Senior Management
Give up - please (competition wants you to stay)
Pros
Vacations, not heavy workload and good benefits
Cons
Management is promoting friends and buds because that is the corporate culture and itself got ahead that way. I do not believe, management is interested in actual good employees because they make their inner circle look bad
Advice to Senior Management
No one knows has heard of us. Care to do something?
Pros
They do not bother you too much about missed quota and missed forecast or numbers because you are waiting on the channel. It is understood that we cant do much about the resellers failures.
Cons
Sage is not about selling capability but rather ducking for cover and staring for long hours at your environment and surfing the net. Since the executive team never succeeded in growing a company, selling or anything like that motivation is hard to come by. Sadly this means you have a culture of brown nosing in place instead of culture of nurturing talent. This gives you little inspiration.
Advice to Senior Management
If you had succeeded you could teach others. Lets call a spade a spade. I will be nice and be respectful but dont try to waste time teaching something you dont understand.
Pros
Growing company, very innovative in the way it goes about it's business and it's a very stable working environment as well.
Cons
big company, takes awhile to establish yourself as with any other big company, but the opportunity is definitely there for the right person.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep making incentive programs happen
Pros
Sage Software in Canada has a big presence in the business / accounting market with ACCPAC and Simply Accounting. The best about working at Sage is that your job and salary will be secure
Cons
Salaries are not competitive and there is a complete lack of career opportunities unless you are part of the Richmond Management inner circle
Advice to Senior Management
Stop giving recognition to your marketing / management areas and be fair with the technical people that actually does the job and I am about the programmer / QA not their managers that had already been over compensated
Pros
Doesn't require you to be a workholic. Just do you job and enjoy your private life.
Cons
Recongnition sucks unless you are one of those yappi, bronw nosers
Advice to Senior Management
Reward hard working people, the ones that creates the products, not your yappi friends
